High school is difficult for most kids. But for Kayano, a shy girl whose single mother seems to work all the time, it's even worse than usual. She's so afraid of drawing attention to herself that she can't tell the handsome Kamijo how much she loves him until one day she finally gets up the courage to write him a letter confessing her feelings.
When she goes to give him the letter all her plans go awry. She's given the letter to the wrong person! Accidentally, she's given her love letter to Takeru Edogawa who just so happens to be the school principal's son, head of the delinquents and the notorious "Prince of Attraction"! To Kayano, he seems like Satan himself. Not only is he devilishly handsome, but he seems to take the utmost pleasure in making her suffer. Things only get more interesting when Kayano's mother comes home one day and announces she's getting married again --- To principal Edogawa! What will Kayano do when she has to live with this devil 24/7? How will she cope with her literal "Hell on Earth"?

AKUMA DE SOUROU review
Story: The story was written wonderfully. The author made it really realistic; I could see it happening in real life, because it gave so much details and information about how the person felt and how the other felt. The situations that were in the story were very good too, because as I wrote before it was realistic. I haven't ever come anything like this either so I thought it was very original and enjoyable.
Art: The author did a good job on the art too; the characters didn't look much the same and the scenery was beautiful. It had everything you could see in real life. However, sometimes the characters did have the same look just one or two of the characters though, which was sort of annoying to me.. but yeah it was good. Character: Oh, I think this was the best part in the story. I loved seeing the characters developing! Especially how Takeru and Kayano were developing towards each other, but it did go a bit fast how Kayano got to like Takeru like that so fast.. nonetheless there wasn't anything too rushed after that at least in my opinion. Enjoyment: Hehe I really enjoyed reading this but I think I did cry a bit TOO much I blame it on Kayano.. she just cried too much in the story. xD Overall: I don't think the story could be written any better. |

***Story:***
I realy liked the story because it is about a girl who cares too much about her enemies. She definitely could be called an idiot: she is always looking after people who are against her and helping her rivals. That makes main plot more interesting and emphasises that kind of "brother-love" story among other thousands of it. That question "who is the devil here?" along all the story spices it, too. I also liked doubt included in their feelings and storys atmosphere. Its just a pity that the beginning is too fast: male leads personality changes with instancy of flash so do female leads feelings - and for girl with her personality (while talking about her personality, its changing in no time, too...) its even worse to stop such a serious love as she was feeling just in few minutes. Another disadvantage is the allurement of the story. Good story wont let you sleep until you read all of it and even after the end, youd be satisfied but still wanting more of it - but I missed this ability here. Well, the truth is that its maybe more comfortable but still... Sometimes it seems morelike couple of single episodes in ones life than a monolithic story. It is making a rambling impress (a little). ______________________________________________________________ ***Art:*** About the art... Well, at first sight it misses that spirit we like about manga but once you become used to it you could find out that its really interesting style. It has its own, pretty weird living soul. I cant help it: all boys are just soooo damn awfuly cute and hot drawn like this :) *innocent look* (you almost want to eat them up XD) but I think girls are sometimes really too much for me - sometimes Im feeling like all the girls are something between strange dolls and super-cute babies - thats kinda creepy, ya know... Even though Ive dicedid the drawings good, style itself (panels, effects, emotions, decorations, etc.) is not that amazing. The author would be better artist than comic maker in that case... ______________________________________________________________ ***Other:*** Id also like to mention that "image" of characters included in the manga has points for its originality. Even though its simple in clothing and not so comfortable to look at, its drawing attention. The best about their styles are their hairstyles - they are really delicate. I just dont get mushrooms showing all the time in manga. I can understun that its some kind of signature or what but it really doesnt help any. I think I could say I enjoyed reading this manga but surely not whole time. I was welcoming mangakas great ideas in every part but I think that she didnt try her best after all. I would recommend it to everyone who loves stories about incest or forbbiden love as much as I do and to all the people who want to be snapped up by interesting (not just) love-story that they could read in free time with no need of soon ending or high artistic quality. I mean, if you are like me, you would be always disapointed that you couldnt finished your book/comix and this series offers story what will seize you without nerving you with such problems... This is manga worth your attention (thinking of occasional accidental deep thoughts and original aesthetics) and reading at least part of it (I dont recommend the very beginning). _______________________________________________________________ *NOTE: I just wrote down my personal oppinion and I am not so experienced critic so please, dont take it as an ultimate thing!* |
AKUMA DE SOUROU review
I truly enjoyed this manga. It sucked me in right from the start. When I read the summary my first thought was "Oh great. This will just be another boring forbidden love story." but man was I wrong. The art was beautiful and the story was amazing. It was really realistic. But what amazed me the most was the characters and their relationship. Yeah the characters developed slightly faster than normal but I thought it all worked out. It was like I was living the story. There were so many times that I was either laughing out loud or was bawling my eyes out.
I personally thought this story was amazing. I would recommend it to anyone that likes the whole forbidden love theme.

AKUMA DE SOUROU review
I really liked this cliche, shoujo manga. The story was kinda predictable, even though some parts shocked me and got me moving with the story, I was still sometimes bored.. and wanting the story to be over. However I did like the artwork and how the artist detailed some of the characters. The characters were pretty detailed and they almost made me visualize them as real people in some parts, in my opinion I can tell the artist worked very hard to create such characters. I'm disappointed to say that I didn't like how she mostly only detailed one character down to specifics.... I did
want to write this review better since it's my first one, but I kinda got carried away... At the end I did find my favorite character, and he was very comical even though he only appeared in the last two chapters. I hope that none of you reading this will not be disappointed by what I have to say... this is only my opinion alone. So, don't let me stop you from reading and enjoying 'Akuma De Sourou'!

AKUMA DE SOUROU review
For starters, I actually think that this scenario is very likely to happen in real life, but this author has such an original way of telling it, I recommend this Manga for those of you who like tabooed love.
I feel that both the beginning and especially the ending were a little rushed. The introduction of characters were fine, but the character development happened too quickly. The ending had many gaps and much more could have been added to the story, but don't let that discourage you from reading it for yourself. |
AKUMA DE SOUROU review
This manga is still so good even after reading it many years after, the reason is because all of the situation that resided in the manga seem very likely to happen in real life. The author simply didn't sugarcoat too much with like what other Shoujo manga does, but it focused more on realism with how the characters react or what the characters do, those are what made me appreciate the manga in the long run.
The last few chapters of the manga showed the growth of the characters, which I liked because they all seemed to have resolved their problems throughout the story. +1 because I love the final chapter where they show the future of what their life has come to. I'd give this a solid 9/10 |
AKUMA DE SOUROU review
This manga is... interesting to say the least. I don't like the plot whatsoever. Step sibling love just don't sit right with me. The only reason I finished reading this was because they had meet prior to becoming step siblings. Also because of Takeru (main male lead)
Now onto the characters, I didn't necessarily like any except Takeru. He felt like the most reasonable and he got the largest development in my perspective. The main female lead was honestly boring. The side characters were only there to help further develop the main couple, they were barely seen afterwards. I REALLY dislike that so you can guess I hated that. This plot is generic, it has all the troupes from the early 2000's. It's generic. Nothing stands out. I can see why people like this but it's not the best. |
AKUMA DE SOUROU review
I have to accept that at the beginning i did not think that this manga was going to be good, the synopsis that they have written for this manga is not really exiting.
However, when i got pass the first chapter i really began to enjoy the story. I think the main reason why i really liked the manga was because of takeru, the male character. He is the sort of tough person, who has a tough appearance, but when we begin to know him, he is sweet. I read it in 1 day, it was easy to follow and enjoyable. It isn't one of those stories which drag on and on the plot. The number of chapter were good ( not too much, not too little). From all the mangas that I have read (that are romantic comedies) this is the best one of them So if you like shoujo and romatic comedies I think that this would be the perfect manga for you. |
AKUMA DE SOUROU review
Story:It was a pretty generic shoujo manga story but if you like shoujo then you'll enjoy it. However, it was kind of a depressing story for me overall but that seemed to give it a sense of authenticity.
Art: Well everyone looked way to similar for my taste but otherwise the art was pretty great. Especially all the extra pages, they always had really intricate clothing (the art in the actual manga was not to complex). Character: Main characters seem to have the usual shoujo boy and girl types. Characters not overly developed but you can get a sense of what a persons reaction would be after awhile. Side characters had no depth. Maybe the character development was hard to tell because of the translations. Enjoyment/Overall: I gave this an 8 because I really did enjoy reading most of The Devil Does Exist. Forbidden love is really nice to read about sometimes and the ending is quite moving for me. I'm still upset. So overall I give it a 7 because it was a nice short series to read for a day, but definitely not a masterpiece. |
