I was looking at the two reviwes for this manga well waiting for the video to lode and i noticed the not the most positive. i could only read the first part since my computer dosen't alow the 'read more' button to work(very annoying) but still the people that have reviewd don't seem to be the biggest fans of this manga. hence why i'm writting a very positive review for it!

this review isn't going to be long and it's going to be brief. so to start of i think i should mention that i love this manga. it is my favourite. a couple reasons for this are because it is light harted and i quite like the subtile humor in it. i love the art and it's a pretty small story.

i don't think this manga is for everyone and if i wasn't such a romantic at times i'm not sure if i would love this manga as much. however i really do enjoy this manga and have reread it many times.

the story is pretty simple and is following the two main characters as they live togather and shows how their relationship progresses. The only thing i didn't like about the story was were it was "love at first sight".

the style of art that mitsuki kako uses is one of the styles i adore. i think the art is beautiful.

the characters are the normal kind of characters that you would expect to see in this kind of manga this dosen't however mean they are not good. they are entertaining! you even have two side charcters that have a great sense of humor and that always make me laugh!

as i said i have reread this manga many times so that pretty much tells you what i think of it overall. i think it is furraly entertaing and it's nice to read if your unsure about what you want to do, to kill time or if just want to read a nice little fluffy story!

overall i give this a 10/10 but i do belive this is something you'll love or hate depending on the person. so check it out make your own decsion and post a review on what you think of it. or even send me a message because i can't get my friend to read it and i love talking about stuff i have enjoyed with people.

Ai hime is the story about a 17 year old girl who starts cohabiting with her non blood related uncle who is only 7 years her senior. However they met before they knew each other earlier and had a very big romantic moment which ended with a kiss. Now these love birds must live together.

This series is neither original nor unique but that in itself doesn't make it bad. I have read the author's other works and they pretty much play the same way as this did. 2 people fall in love, start dating, have sex, the end without any love rivals. I've read 4 of her works and she essentially makes these romance series which is exactly what people are usually asking for. A manga where the dating happens early on, they have sex and their aren't any love rivals. All of them have played this way the only difference being here the MMC is a bit more of an asshole. More shoujo asshole personality. A bit of Gary Sue and it kinda brought the series down tbh.

The series does get relatively better in terms of the male character's personality. It occurs in the last volume so the series ends on a good note.

I mean this series is incredibly straight forward. Sure their are massive problems like how the hell the uncle had never met his niece. Why the parents are letting the uncle take care of their teenage daughter just so they can go around the world. And a bunch of other random ass shit. But this does have all the good stuff. Ending is great. For romance fans i feel like this is pretty much all the fanservice. Kiss scenes specifically are just fantastic. However in terms of good writing its missing some parts here and their.

TLDR: Risk free(relatively) fluffy romance manga. 6/10

I’ll just start by saying my favorite character was the cat... ah hum.

I was actually un-attracted by the “forbidden love” thing. I’ll let teachers slide but relatives, even not related by blood, kind of makes me run the other way.

So when I first started reading this I got through two chapters and was totally confused as to what Jinya’s relation really was to Mao’s father. They say he’s Mao’s fathers brother originally but I’ll save you my grief and explain he’s her father’s step-brother [not related by blood at all] and the author takes it away a step further by saying he was adopted into her father’s family…

Jinya and Mao fall in love pretty much on the spot. They meet, find out there uncle and niece, the next day there boyfriend-girlfriend. Their relationship is cute but it felt like the author skipped the first part and started in the middle. A place where two people already understand how each other works and the only problems left for them to face are minuscule and easily solved with a bit of communication.

The characters are so-so. I can’t say I got a good grasp of Mao’s or Jinya’s individual personalities. You only really see how they interact when there together. Mao must be incredibly mature [sarcasm], she faces the typical problems [Am I good enough, does he really love me, jealously, ect.] and manages to handle them pretty well by herself. I think we all break down at some point and argue over these things, especially if this is the first time in a serious relationship. The author doesn’t say that either of them are inexperienced but just based on Mao’s age and innocence you’d assume she has little experience with relationships.

I’m like madly in love with this author so I had to bring my score down a few times to where I feel it actually should be >.> This is just not one of her better works and hopefully it was one of the earlier ones.

I'm on the fence about recommending this one, its not incredibly long and the romance is good. If i could just pick the romance up and put it into a different plot line it could be really good.

Story: 5 [eh...]
Art: 7 [good]
Character: 5 [So-so]
Enjoyment: 6 [OK]
Overall: 5 [OK]

This manga is perhaps one of my favourite shoujo mangas of all times. It starts out as a classic boy meets girl. The female and male main characters meet for the first time beneath a sakura tree... surely fated to never meet again. And then of course, they meet again! The female protagonist finds out, that in fact, the boy she kissed is her "uncle" (not blood-related though), and she would be his "niece" and her parents ask her "uncle" to take care of her while they're away. Before I say anymore about this manga, you should know a couple things:

-The age difference between the characters is quite wide. I would presume the guy has at least 15 years on her. So if you're not comfortable with large age gaps, this is not the manga for you. However, if you're A-okay with that kind of stuff this is definitely your kind of manga.

-While they aren't blood-related, it would technically still be "incest" I suppose... they know from the get-go that he's adopted and they aren't related... so it's not like anything bad can really come from them coming together other than breaking some rather serious taboos.

If you don't have a problem with either of these things, this is definitely a great manga that I would highly recommend. It has quality art, and decent character development. Overall though, what I love about this manga is the overall feel and impression it left me with at the end. It's a gentle, romantic, but mold-breaking manga. It may seem like the common shoujo from a glance, but I assure you it's not!

I picked this manga randomly (real meaning: I saw the review on the front page and entered. It became one of my beloved habits). This is the main result, I guess.

Story
After reading the summary for the first time, I thought about two things. First, this story has to be dark or at least very deep. Second, the plot may be slower than it's seemed to be.
I was wrong,
So wrong.
'Ai Hime' turns the forbidden love story between an uncle and a niece quickly into a light, heart-warming shojo manga. It would be even plainer, if the age different issue didn't appear. However, in some twisted way, it does the complete opposite. The main issue Mao deals with is when she will be ready to have sex with Jin; a theme that can exist perfectly with characters in the same age.
Expect form that, the manga revolves around a normal relationship under the shadow of being a family. As I mentioned before, 'Ai Hime' isn't the heavy, serious shojo it could have being. Most of the events, if not all, conclude in the same introduction of "He is my uncle" and a rapid salivation that allows Mao's and Jin's relationship grows stronger.
Even though its simplicity, I think 'Ai Hime' holds a lot of potential. In matter of fact, I believe that a longer manga would be more suitable to the storyline. Almost each chapter holds a plot that could be developed easily and leaves more impact on the reader. The short length forces the story race against time in order to touch more aspects of Mao and Jin's life.

Characters
Being the main characters of a shojo manga, Mao and Jin's personalities fit perfectly. Mao takes the rule of the cute and caring girl while Jin is the protecting yet mean, guy. The past of both of them is being told, which gives them some depth. However, the way of sharing the materials and using them, gives the feeling it didn’t reach to the peak.
Gladly enough, Mao and Jin aren't alone.
Although its short length, 'Ai Hime' has a large verity of characters. Most of them answer the average demands of their type in an alternative way. Sadly, those glimpses of depth are only given away when Jin and Mao's past involves (except from her parents who have a minor success escaping form the 'curse'). Then, after the nostalgic memories, they only serve the purpose of highlighting Jin and Mao's relationship from different aspects.
(Side note: All of the characters could have being developed much more. I am little disappointed it didn't happened. Although I hate his type of characters, I wished to see more of Satoru.)

Art
The art of 'Ai Hime' is good and more importantly it's steady through all of the manga. However, what made me impressed was the combination between two drawing style. Mao represents the shojo style while Jin has more josei characteristics in his design. Despite those differences, the art makes their coupling looks natural.
Besides that, Jin's facial expressions sometimes gave me the feeling I was looking at a different person (check out the cover of volumes 1 & 3). Other than that, form times to times, the characters' chins and lips seemed a little wired.
