Dousei Recipe is done by the same mangaka as Mel Kano. It tells the story of a couple, both very innocent and in love with each other, who are now living together! Takeshi is a pure-hearted college student who is enticed by his girlfriend that has run away to live with him. Temptations ensue.

Okay so I pushed myself through this manga just because I wanted to review this manga in its entirety.

Story-1
Wow, if you're looking for the next Hunger Games manga or Toradora, then this is NOT the place you want to go towards. The plot is basically a guy and girl cohabitation, and yes they are a couple. However you wouldn't know that because for the first half or so of this manga every single time they kiss she usually pushes him away with a strong no. "But Dano, there is supposed to be romance in this manga, right? With some ecchi?" Well thats a big nope. The romance is somewhat there, if you count all the random people who fall in love with the Mcs. Ecchi? Well I mean you see some, but if you're looking for ecchi go read To Love Ru instead, I know thats my plan cause I need some pure gold to make me smile. Lots of swaying feelings.

Art- 6
Now Ive gotta give credit where credit is due. The characters are drawn fairly well, and I do like the artwork in this manga. Thats it. Its just a like, not love, not hate, more of a meh.

Character- 1
Heres where it all goes south, know how I mentioned the extra random people going "I love you!" to the main characters and the swaying feelings? Yeah, you better get used to it as that never goes away. BUUUUTT, you do get more characters! But each and everyone of them are total douchebags.

Enjoyment- 1
In case I was too subtle for you, I did NOT enjoy reading this manga. It was awful, but but I am glad that Im finally done with it so woooo

Overall- 2
That's just the averaged score, nothing to special about it.

This manga sets up an interesting premise in that it looks at a couple who can't go through love in the normal order because they start living together pretty much immediately. This results in their relationship moving quite slowly and things being quite awkward, which is amusing, though how slow it is from the perspective of the manga can feel like an issue at points. Still, their relationship does move along, and is quite cute in doing so. Both main characters are pretty interesting, especially in regards to their family backgrounds and how that ends up having an impact on them and how that plays into the plot. The side characters are decent enough in that they help push forward the main relationship and develop the two main characters, but beyond that it felt at times that their stories were dragging on a bit, though it all felt like they had a pretty strong purpose towards the ending. To look at it in the most favorable light, the entire plot could be seen as a set up with things slowly being developed to lead to a massive finale, which I think was incredibly solid although it was a bit cliché. It was suspenseful due to how well executed the plot points were it and had quite a few strong moments. The epilogue I think was also handled well in that it made sure to touch upon and show happy endings for everyone. The art was pretty good.

tl;dr: A romance manga with innocent leads that has a plot that moves slowly but builds up to an incredibly solid ending.
