Doraemon is cat shaped robot from the future traveling all the way back to the 20th century in order to help Nobi Nobita, a lazy kid with nothing really going for him. Nobi is bad at sports, his grades are terrible, he can't even win a match of rock-paper-scissors. Doraemon has a hard task ahead of him but he is well prepared with a huge arsenal of the most inventive and funny gadgets available. The problem is he's not the most competent robot cat helper out there either and the pair gets in constant trouble because of it. Thus begins one of the most interesting friendships ever to appear in a manga series.

"Must be tiring ain't it? To worry about all that, that is. One can only live for a short amount of time. So you might as well try to enjoy it. Don't lose your head over it."

Doraemon is a one-shot drawn by Taiyo Matsumoto and derived from the original Doraemon classic. I honestly know little to nothing about the original, but bare with me as I review this piece.

Nobita, the MC, decides to travel forward in time and see what his future self has become of. What he finds is surrealistically compelling in the highest degree.

When we are young, we never think of the future. We just think of whats now, the present. Rightfully so as the future can be a very scary thought. In this story, Nobita's future self knows this all too well. From meteorites falling from the sky, killing all life on Earth to the possibility of aliens eventually taking over this planet enslaving the human race & even the threat of global nuclear war, these are all worries the world faces. As part of growing up, Nobita realized lifes greatest fears & garnered an excessive perspective of them. Thankfully though, our veteraned are there to remind us we still have our present selves to take care of. We don't know a thing about tomorrow. All we can do is face facts and take the present for what it's worth.

Even though it's a one-shot I strongly feel as though this particular one had a viable message and was delivered excellently through the manga medium. Taiyo on board reinforced this with beautiful imagery and fresh designs for Doraemon fandom. Although some may disagree with his style, I find it brilliant.

Story 9/10
Art 10/10
Overall 9/10

Matsumoto decides to create a non-canonical "sequel" of doraemon that is based entirely on the character of Nobita and on the effects of being able to travel in time - and thus being able to see the beginning and end of everything - caused to the psyche of Nobita.
The comic does not focus at all on Doraemon, which is very secondary as a character, at times you get the doubt that he can not talk - certainly that resolves at the end, when he says 'yeah'-, and it is something that could make the nose to many people - bacause in a comic called doraemon you expect that doraemon is the main character - but ... it works really well as a thing.
The main problem of this comic is the duration, a chapter of about twenty pages - of which most are only drawings - Can not even deepen Nobita, who is practically the only character in the comic.
In my opinion, Matsumoto should have added a dozen chapters in which, in addition to deepening Nobita, he would deepen other characters -Doraemon, Shizuka, Suneo and Goda- and their relationships in the past, present and future.
The incipit narrative is incredible, with a narrative beginning of the genus Matsumoto could have created a kind masterpiece, a remake / reboot even better than 'Pluto' by Urasawa, but it did not happen.
So, in the end, this doraemon was a disappointment, not because it's ugly, on the contrary, it's a nice comic book - especially from a visual point of view - but because the basic idea has not been fully exploited.
Really a pity.

sorry for the grammatical errors, I'm not very good in English.

Doraemon (ドラえもん) is the very first Manga that I ever read in my entire life. It is Fujiko F. Fujio's masterpiece.

Story (10/10):
Nobita Nobi is a young boy who suffers from poor grades and bullying. In the future many years from the present one of Nobi's descendants sends Doraemon, a robotic blue cat back to the past to guard and protect Nobi. Doraemon has a large variety of gadgets that are hidden in his pouch that he uses to help Nobi. Doraemon's goal is to help Nobi now with his problems and struggles so that he has a better future than the one that Doraemon sees in the future. Fantastic and very interesting, especially for the younger audiences.

Art (10/10):
Fujiko F. Fujio is a fantastic Mangaka and this is his masterpiece. Doraemon has the best art that he ever drew in a Manga. Perfect art design and quality.

Characters (10/10):
All the characters are extremely likable in their own ways. Nobita is the failure that everyone can relate to with his struggles. Shizuka is the happy and friendly girl that people can relate to in real life. Suneo and Takeshi are the typical bullies that most people can relate either because they have been bullied or are bullies in real life. Fantastic characters that everyone no matter what your age and characteristics are you can still relate with.

Enjoyment (10/10):
Doraemon is the very first Manga that I ever read in my life. It is amazing. I enjoy it every time I read it. I have re- read this series half a dozen times. That is how much I love it.

Overall (10/10):
Doraemon isn't just for kids. It is for everyone. It is loaded with great morals for everyone and I do mean everyone, to learn and to become a better person by such as fixing your mistakes. A masterpiece and one of the greatest Manga of all-time in my opinion. 10/10.

To be honest, I've read this Doraemon series since I was 4-year old. And now I'm 18-year old, and I'm still enjoys this masterpiece. It has been about 14 years now. Fujio.F.Fujiko is the creator of this series. To me, he is the most respectable mangaka to me. I can't say that manga this day are not worth reading, but just few of them can really buried deep inside our heart for long time. Doraemon is the one of the few one. This series deserve more than just 10 marks, if you ask me. This series can really change our ways of thinking in adult days if we read it since we are little kids. I don't ask you to believe in my words but it seems this way to me. We will become kinder than other peoples who don't actually read this series. I've compare the personality between the peoples who read or watch this series with the peoples who doesn't. The differences in their personality in absolute. Don't believe in me? Try to compare it yourself. This series does have many morale values in it. It can be comparable to the fairy tales we heard since we are kids. Enough of this, I will starts with the story parts.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~SToRY~
The story plot is repetitive, if you ask me. So this is why i can't give it a 10 for it. Considering the number of stories story that Fujio.F.Fujiko writes in his manga for 45 volumes, you can't really criticize it. As long that the story is interesting, why we bother about the plots? All of his short stories is amazing, and I can't really get bored of it. The repetitive sides you ask me? This is the examples:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another peaceful ordinary day - Nobita gets bullied by Giant and Suneo - Nobita seeks for helps from Doraemon to teach them a lesson - Doraemon agreed and takes out the future equipment - Nobita use the equipment on Giant and Suneo and successfully takes the revenge - Nobita started to get cocky and misused the equipment that Doraemon gave him - After sometimes the equipment's effects backfired on Nobita - At last Nobita regret for his own action.
Morale Value: Don't bully other people. Karma exist in this world!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The plot is same for MOST of his stories. Nothing can be said but who cares? The stories made me laugh and laugh again! Although the plot is same, but the equipments they use in every stories are different. I've actually envied Fujio-F-Fujiko for his imagination to invented such an interesting future equipment. They have an interesting appearances, so are their function. That is what can I said for his short stories. Other than short stories, Fujio.F.Fujiko also write some long stories version for this series. This is the most interesting parts for this series. Nobita and his friends go on for an adventure, meet a new friend, beat the bad guys... OK. For his long stories, the comedy is no longer the only things that made this series interesting. They also focus on the friendship and the importances of co-operation while do something big. The ending for the stories was always touching and will make you satisfied with it. So the story part deserve 10 for me. For me, the stories in this series was not only meant for children, but also for adults that can really understands the true meaning of this series. Screw the manga+(anime)doraemon=childish theory! But, honestly Doraemon long stories series nowadays are sucks because it is not Fujio.F.Fujiko that writes the scripts. The old series is the best.

The art is neat, simple and clean. The panels inside the manga also neat and makes you read it easier. This is what makes this series special. The world inside it was almost 2-D, but realistic. Tell you all, I polish my drawing skill by take this series as the reference when I was small because it was simple and understandable. Compared to manga nowadays that focused on 3-D drawing, shadow details and whatever, this manga simply can't compared to them. But as you know, this manga is 70's style and it can be considered beautiful at that time. So without hesitate, I give it 10.

Simply great. All of the characters have their own uniqueness in their attutude and style. Big hearted Doraemon, kind but slacker Nobita, diligent and kind hearted Shizuka, timid but trickster Suneo and Giant the bully. The characters in this series can be considered as pure because their heart can be easily read by all of the readers comparable to the manga characters nowadays thats are impure and unpredictable, even the main character such as they have demon in their heart. This can be influential to the prematures mind , just because they can't differentiate the good and bad things. Put aside good and bad influential, I've realize that some characters in certain manga or anime that does not special at all --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~eNJoYMeNT~
I can't say much about this but oh well, full marks to it. I believe that I've already explained that why this series is enjoyable earlier. And nobody will read this manga for 14 years (like me) if this series is not enjoyable. This is all that I can say.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~oVeRall~
Desrerve more than 10, so I'll give it an 11 for the rating on this masterpiece. It is suitable for all, it is hilarious and it is enjoyable. So, nothing wrong with it. I've spend nearly 2 hours to write this reviews so anyone that read my reviews until the end, I was truly appreciate it. Thanks for reading! :)

I know this manga was waaaay before my time, but I actually grew up with it and, believe it or not, I didn't know it was manga for the longest time. See, around the time I was in fourth or fifth grade, I went to the library, and one book in particular caught my attention. The first volume of Doraemon. I checked it out, read it, and loved it, and proceeded to check out a bunch of other volumes...that I then proceeded to forget to return and actually ended up keeping until I unfortunately lost them...oops. Anyway, earlier today I started to go back and reread it, and...I'm actually fairly surprised at how much I'm enjoying it, lol, it's pretty dang good!

I mean for starters, it takes place in the early 70s! I had NO IDEA it was set in the 70s as a kid! That just goes to show you how timeless this manga is, or at least it does imo. I mean, seriously, other than the fact that a lot of the character's names are pretty outdated, it's pretty timeless. It could take place anytime, really. Well, anytime before 2009, anyway. This might sound negative, but if there were to be a modern day retelling of Doraemon, all the characters would probably be sitting indoors texting or eating Tide Pods or something instead of playing outside and stuff, lol.

The overall premise is a little loose, but it's primarily a comedy series, so I think that's fine. From what I remember, we do get a few glimpses into Nobita's future in later chapters, so it's like it totally lacks in overarching plot. It's just pretty episodic in nature for the most part, which is fine, because again, comedy.

Anyway, I'm pretty much just rambling and going into pointless personal anecdotes at this point, so I'm just gonna wrap it up, here. Is this manga perfect? No. Is it fun? Absolutely, it is! Like I said, I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it as a child, and I wasn't even a fan of anime and manga back then. If you're a fan of light-hearted, slice of life stories with likable characters and a childlike sense of wonder and whimsy, definitely give it a read. While reading it as a child, I found it extremely relatable, and it got me through some hard times. Rereading it now as an adult, it gives me a lot of nostalgia, and not only reminds me of when I was a kid, but it takes me back to the time when I was first reading it, and when life was just simpler. Just read it, okay? You wont regret it. Don't let it's age or the simplicity of the premise stop you, just read it.
