I had high hopes for this manga. I really did.

I'll try to keep this short..

The main character is the stock cardboard cutout of every shounen mc. He's a half-breed immortal/human so the humans were scared of him while the immortals looked down upon him. Mixing this with a stereotypical sad backstory and a generic goal like 'becoming stronger and making others recognize me' leads to a pretty bland mc.

Most of the other characters aren't the best either. They're insufferable and a simple sad backstory wouldn't justify their actions whatsoever. They don't feel like characters but rather like a walking cast of bland, unlikeable cliches.

The story tries to be unpredictable and unexpected but ultimately the 'unexpected' moments seem to be pieced together by putting together random puzzle pieces and hoping it works. The unexpected moments can be exciting to read but a few panels later, you forget about it and ultimately, the excitement is lost.

Most of the plot seems to be filled with either coincidences or conveniences for the plot and there's also large and noticeable plot holes.

The biggest positive for this manga has to be without a doubt the art. I have no idea who this author is but the art he makes is really nice. It's detailed while still being pleasant to read. It feels like there's a ton of passion that's being put into the art and it just improves the experience by a ton. The art can get really creative too in the use of actions with the different objects of each panel.

It's not like I hate this manga but I probably won't pay much attention to it. It's got its moments and I likely would've enjoyed it more when I was younger.

And although I'm not liking the current state of this manga, it might get a lot better later as there aren't that many chapters out and I'll come back to this a year or two later and might be completely wrong in everything I said but from what I read so far, I didn't get a good impression (except for the really good art).

Don't let what I said to prevent you from checking it out though. At least check the first few chapters to see how it goes
