Yomeiro Choice

I'm not sure why some people insist on approaching this series so seriously. It's a boundary-pushing gag manga, and that's all it was intended to be. With how over the top and outrageous it can be at times, I think it's a great success. If the concept doesn't sound appealing to you, then do yourself a favor and just don't read the series.

The story itself makes no real world sense at all, but that's why it's entertaining. It's a bit like Back to the Future (in fact the series itself references the movie with several chapter titles and little winks and nudges here and there), but a little more complicated with its multiple timelines and it will make your head hurt if you try to make sense out of it. Basically, daughters with different mothers from different timelines in the future are in danger of disappearing from existence and are trying to make sure their father chooses their respective mother so that they get born. The story really is not why you should be reading this, but I think it does a great job at giving a ridiculous setting for the ridiculous gags to play out.

The art is pretty good. For a harem-type series, it's relatively detailed and dynamic-looking, but it's nothing amazing and often the panels seem very busy and crowded. The characters' designs themselves don't look like anything too special, but it's easy enough to tell them apart at least for the most part.

Speaking of the characters, most of them fulfill some common archetype. Saku is the loser harem lead, Karin is the childhood friend tsundere, Hiiro is the emotionless kuudere, etc. This may sound like a criticism, but because this is a parody gag series, it really works in its favor.

To expand on that point a bit further, many chapters seem to parody harem and general manga cliches by taking typical plots way beyond what you would expect to see and some of the gags are often a bit shocking, but that's a big part of the entertainment. Giving examples would only spoil the fun the first time through, so I'll restrain myself, but rest assured, you'll be left wondering if the publisher can even legally show some of this stuff.

The series is not perfect, though. Characters will often act completely out of character or become totally Flanderized for a single chapter in order to accommodate a certain story, and although this has an amusing comedic and cartoonish effect, it can feel a little damaging to the characters sometimes. Although the gags in the series are shocking and often gut bustingly outrageous, chapters that focus primarily on gags and move away from the relationships and characterization tend to be a bit weaker.

But those things hardly make this a bad series. Frankly I've really been surprised at just how entertaining I've been finding this series, and fortunately this sort of "ridiculous ecchi gag" thing seems to be the author's forte, so I look forward to seeing more ridiculousness from tenkla/Doi Sakazaki in the future. If you're looking for an ecchi harem series that really pushes the boundaries of what can be shown in a shounen manga or something that makes no sense at all and knows it (in a cartoony kind of way), then you've come to the right place.

EDIT: The series is over now, and my opinion and score remain the same. Without spoiling anything, the ending was downright ridiculous, but at the same time, it's exactly what you'd expect from this series. It was one of the few endings to a harem series I found satisfying, and it does actually wrap everything up neatly. For this, I think the author deserves some credit. She went all the way, and for that, this is a series I won't soon forget. Thanks, tenkla.

This manga is good in that it has a lot of good comedy. The premise is pretty interesting and sets up a lot of strange situations that are interesting to go through, which are generally quite amusing. Sure, the plot is incredibly basic and leads up to an ending that is incredibly predictable considering the tone of the manga. But hey, the journey there is comedic enough to make it worth it. Character wise, the wife candidates and daughters were a pretty varied bunch, and watching their interactions with each other, among daughters, among mothers, and especially between mother and daughter was quite interesting. There was a lot more substance there than I expected, and I think the cast there is pretty solid. On the other hand, I felt the protagonist was pretty weak, and I don't think I have a particularly high bar for such. There wasn't even an attempt at establishing why they like him, even with the standard throwaway clichés that authors usually throw in for such, which while I am not particularly fond of I can definitely see the purpose of in light of their absence from this work. The ending tries to make some attempt at it, and gets a strange serious tone doing so, but it really isn't adequate enough, only making up for his weakness, but not really showing any strength. Still, the rest of the cast manages to be pretty strong without him, so that isn't as much of an issue as you'd expect. The art was also very good. 

tl;dr: A hilarious manga with an interesting premise and a good set of characters outside of the protagonist. 

The word "funny" does not even begin to describe Yomeiro-Choice (Choose the Color of Your Wife). Seriously, this manga will make you cry out of laughter, with over-the-top hilarity. However, it does not fall to what some comedy series do; that is, complete, pure comedy beyond stopping. No, there is a good amount of drama that goes along the series, without being ruined by inappropriate jokes, and one can really learn from those moments.

A high-school student, Sakuraga Saku, is often bullied by his childhood friend, Karin, who sometimes helps him with his homework. Lately, though, Karin has become pushy about going to Saku's place, which he finds weird and tries to avoid. As it turns out, Sakuraga's cousin, Kuran, aka Kuraran, has just moved in with him, surprising Karin at first, seeing her in just a towel (after taking a shower). All of a sudden, a little girl appears out of nowhere and claims to be Kiiro (Yellow), Saku and Karin's daughter from the future. When she proves who she is, Kiiro explains that at the current time, Sakuraga, her father, becomes a womanizer, and as such, his future is unstable. The former has begun disappearing in the future, therefore, she is here to make sure her parents end up together. The problem is, at the moment, the two have not confessed their feelings for each other or even gone out on a date. Can Karin, the mother, just move past this and be Saku's wife . . .?

If you are thinking, "so, it is basically about someone going 'back to the future'? then worry not, my friend, because the very first chapter's title, "Fuck to the Future," means the author has beaten you to that thought already. Although the manga initially seems like a nice parody, it is just that: It "seems" like a parody. There are more surprises down the road; I promise.

If you like goofy characters, then you will love these. Sakuraga Saku is someone who likes to run away whenever faced with a predicament and, thanks to his cousin, becomes lazier and lazier. His childhood friend, Karin, is constantly by his side, telling him what to do, without revealing her true feelings for Saku, or even confessing them to herself. Kuran is a quiet, clumsy girl, who also secretly likes Saku, babying him. Saku's friend, who is the class president as well (called "class shrimp" because of her size), wants her body to grow and is very conservative; unbeknownst to others and herself, she can sometimes turn to "ero (perverted) mode" when her embarrassment level reaches its peak. The little girl from the future is Kiiro, an energetic, childish person who will not stop until her parents are together. More are introduced later, making a certainly "colorful" cast.

Save for Kuran and Karin's mother's (basically all) large breasts (here), the art is pretty good. I do not like annoyingly calm characters, such as Kuraran and Hiiro (Red) (appears later), or high-schoolers that look like kids, e.g., Kozue Mebuki. I have read some of the other works of this mangaka, most of which are hentai (there is a joke on that in this manga), and she (yes, she is a girl) usually draws huge-breasted heroines that look and act like Karin. The author, "Tenkla," avoids that mistake in Yomeiro-Choice, turning it to be her most successful work.

Overall, you get yourself a funny, meaningful, beautiful story, with a love triangle. I guarantee you this is one manga that will never bore you. Ever. Definitely recommended.

The concept of someone going into the past, and telling about my future intrigues me. That is why I decided to pick this Yomeiro up. With that being said, and I found this unbearable.

At the beginning I had rather high hopes for this manga due to me being a fan of time travel. Sadly most of those hopes were crushed in the second chapter. I know this is a gag comic so I'm trying not to make this to serious, but I didn't really find it all that funny either. The most I got from it was one of those chuckles you get from hearing a claver, but bad pun. Also I felt the whole story was contradicting, though that's my time travel nerd speaking.

I am very picky when it comes to the art or any anime, or manga. With that being said I actually was rather found of the art. Except most of the art is mainly some kind of service shot. Not that service shots are bad, but quite a few of them involve the protaginist's future daughter, and him.

I'm being rather generous with this in my opinion. The protaginist is your average harem king who manages to get into a load of erotic situations, while the heroines are your average arc types, without depth. In it's defence this is a gag manga, so I wasn't really expecting some tragic backstory, though they're plenty of other gag manga who atleast give something to their characters.

It wasn't bad, if you ignore most of the pointless service shots, and lack of story, and character depth. I wouldn't recommend it to someone, unless I knew they liked the "humor" this manga had to offer, or was a fan of things with a lot of fanservice.

Time travel is one of my favourite Sci-fi sub genres, however there are a lot of different variations of it:
- Going back in time to change the future.
- Going back in time and altering the past, thus creating a parallel possible future.
- Going back in time to ensure that certain past events occur, because everything is seamlessly connected.
Yomeiro Choice uses a bastardized version of all three, to form it's inconsistent plot. But in the end none of that really matters, because why complain about the usage of science theorems, in a mediocre harem, ecchi, rom/com.

And just like in any harem, there has to be a protagonist and it comes in the form of (the generic male protagonist #517) Saku Sakuraga. He lives alone, like all Japanese boys supposedly do, but is never given a moment's piece, thanks to his childhood friend's constant meddling and his cousin's sudden arrival. Yet if that wasn't enough on his plate, an odd little girl appears outs of nowhere; claiming to be his daughter from the future, who's travelled back in time to ensure her Dad will procreate her... and she isn't the only one. Well that's it for the basic premise and like I said earlier, the time travel aspect merely plays second fiddle, making this into yet another implausible story where some hapless guy has to pick between multiple girls. However the reasoning behind it all is kind of farfetched. As for the structure of the story, it's exactly what you'd expect, with each chapter having a theme or character focus, to provide opportunities for some comic relief but never really doing much to advance the plot. The comedy and ecchi mostly come from the numerous times the daughters forcefully try to get involved, bringing their future tech into their shenanigans, but it's nothing more than a bunch of uncreative jokes that got old in the days of Love Hina & Tenchi Muyo.

Another thing that got old was the art style. To the mangaka: So what if you can draw cute girls in ecchi (borderline hentai) situations. It doesn't mean anything if little-to-no effort is put into providing a unique look and feel to those cute girls in their ecchi situations. In the end the art of the manga was boring, because it offered nothing new and looked really simplistic.

The characters themselves are simplistic. Heck, they are basically just cardboard cut-outs of what we are all used to by now. Nothing more to their personalities than the one-word captions used to think them up (i.e. Kuran=Tits, Karin=Tsundere, Mebuki, Kiiro & Hiiro=Lolis, Saku=Meh...) So yeah, there's nothing to the characters, but if you enjoy your characters simplistic, then you'll have a variety of them to choose from. Nevertheless they seem to lack any depth that'll make you care about them and by the time the mangaka tries to give them depth, it already feels like it's too late.

I remember that one episode of Futurama when Fry met his accident-prone Grandfather, in the past and takes it upon himself to ensure that his Grandparents hook up. But it was his involvement that killed his Granddad and in the end he became his own Grandfather. It's this kind of messed up feel that Yomeiro Choice has, but unfortunately it's no way near as entertaining. Certainly this manga does have some genuinely funny moments, but they really don't happen often enough, to fully redeem its shamelessness. If it wasn't for the time travel hook I really wouldn't care about it that much, but it can still be written off as just another generic harem, ecchi, rom/com; where some bland teenage boy ends up living with a bunch of easily attainable girls, with a whole bunch of jokes cropping up in-between. I mean sure, if that's all you're looking for then this little title could very well satisfy your need, but that's only if you don't mind: the badly put together story, some poorly executed jokes, a spoilt loser of a protagonist and heaps of non-consensual sexual activities (oh wait, if it looks like she's enjoying it then I guess it's OK).

For some people harem is like the black genre you wont like to read because it usually ends with nothing happening this series is a bit different than most because it does have an ending with a bit of satisfaction...

thou a lot of stupid antics were coming out of nowhere like you would expect from a borderline-H work it still follows a storyline and also uses most previous works for the later chapters and even thou the series got hacked in the end the ending is a lot better than most series that were extended to a point of losing most of its "flavor"

for those wanting to read something with alot of fan service, a lot of laughs and not much drama this is probly the series for you

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon SwardVA's "The everyday life of /a/non" and so I was greeted by "BIG AND ROUND, JIGGLING, FLOPPING, FULL TITS AND ASS!"

Huh...

Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to track down the original source and thus began my reading of Yomeiro Choice. The main character of this manga, Saku, or as shall refer to him as "Bastard" as you will find out in later chapters he is the luckiest bastard possibly in manga history (which is serious business by the way) has rejected a girl in his class. Why? Because like every harem character he is a teen with true morals, (well until about 20 pages in). His friend which I will refer to as "Tsundere" makes a point to stick her nose in his own business, considering t-that's what Tsunderes do... B-baka! Anyway, he walks home with her to be greeted by his Triple-D Cup cousin which I shall refer to as "#1 Waifu Candidate" who to "Bastard's" surprise wants to bang him pretty much. After he practically rejects her, shit REALLY hits the fan. Next thing you know the plot becomes something that of nonsensical time travel fanfiction in which the creator(s?) of this manga just practically assumed "Fuck logic, we'll give them nudity!" and so they did."Bastard's" children from the future plan to get him to screw his two possible wives "Tsundere" and "#1 Waifu Candidate". Shortly after two more of his kids show up to get him to screw a loli and some older foreign chick.

Huh... Wait, what?

After 39 chapters of full on intercourse literally millimeters away from happening there's not much to say about this series, because out of all the crazy stuff that happens I can't really remember much. Y'know that really sweet wet dream you had, waking shortly after to find out that you're hungover? That pretty much sums up Yomeiro Choice. This is either the most echiiest echii manga or a just really long hentai with little teaspoonfuls of drama here and there if you can call it that.
By now I've ignored the review tips and pretty much spoiled the entire plot of this series, but you know what, screw the rules! Around the last two chapters the most interesting plot point this series could offer involved "Bastard" potentially losing his place in time as the robot/android woman thing he created in the future gives him no choice to bang her after practically molesting every one of his potential squeezes as a youngster, teen, and creepy old man, all in alternate timelines... Yup.
But through the power of love - love being "Bastard's" exploding sex drive - he conquers time and space by pretty much deciding that he will bang everyone he knows, after declaring his love to every one of his waifus. Did I mention he has a raging erection during his moment of glory? I kid you not. In fact that is NOTHING compared to everything else in this manga. The series ends with "Bastard" literally blubbering in a horny rage, "Okay! My ability to reason is down the shitter!It doesn't matter what I do! No regrets! All right, everybody, hands against the wall! Asses out!" Subtle, and too the point. All and all, it was a fun read during awkward family dinners on my iPod.

Best quote: "WE'RE SHO FUGGING HABBY!"

So this is a rom/com ecchi harem that a little bit sci-fi because three main characters and a side character are time travelers from different time lines trying to get the main guy to fuck mostly one of three girls: The Tsundere Childhood Friend, The Close Cousin with tig ol bitties, and the Student Council President with a hidden slutty personalty that did not knew she had. Why? Cause if he doesn't then they will dissappear and erase from time. Each chapter is kinda predictable where at lest one of the daughters from the future comes up with a scheme to try and get their father to end up the one of the main three girls and lewd things happens and sometimes a gadget from the future comes to play to help add some chaos.

This is more of one those guilty pleasures that barley anyone has herd of and if they have then they won't care much about it to judge you for liking this series. If you enjoy series like High School DxD or Negima then you will most likely think this is enjoyably OK. It's high 6/10 or a high 7/10 at best.

Borderline H, plain and simple. if you want legal hentai, here you go.

story-6: its the usual harem romcom kerfuffle, now with time travel. If you are expecting a serious story about the ramifications of time travel on the future, or a feels trip about the existence of the other harem members should the mc choose one of the girls, then look even further, for thats not why you should read this manga. It has a good premise wasted just to give a reason to show some skin or some underwear here and there. Much potential to tell an engaging and heartfelt story about the daughters and their disappearance should MC choose a girl, shoved aside cuz lol boobs. Becuz of that the show's 'plot' deserves an 11/10 cuz there is plenty of it.

Characters-8: The stars of the harem romcoms. They make or break a harem series. In this case, they are decent enough to keep you going through. We have the tsundere childhood friend, the moe blob cousin, and the no-chance-in-hell class rep. With them are their daughters, each coming from a different timeline where the mc marries one of the three. Together, the daughters fight among each other to get the mc to marry their respective mother so that they can exist, but in doing so rob the others of their existence. Buuuuuuut, thats the extent of their character development. Most of the humor comes from the fanservice and misunderstandings between the daughters, the main harem and the MC. Yes the daughters also have fanservice, and i think their age may turn off some people. Ultimately, they are enjoyable for only about the duration of the manga, and none of them are particularly memorable.

Art-8: The art is good, as expected of an ecchi series. Since the whole point of this manga is to market fanservice, then they better do it well. The characters are a bit difficult to tell apart, espescially between the class rep and 2 of the daughters, but this is probably just me, and even i managed to tell them apart soon enough. The fanservice is drawn well enough and all the curves are all in the right places with the appropriate expressions. There is loli fanservice as well, and if you are not comfortable with it, you may want to skip this...or give it a try. Who knows? You may grow a new fetish.

Enjoyment-8: I actually liked this manga. Sure the story had missed potential, but i was looking for an ecchi harem romcom to pass the time, and it delivered. Its not steins gate, but its passable. I may have forgotten the characters, but i remembered my time with the manga.

Overall-8: its an ecchi harem romcom through and through. It has decent fanservice and humurous character interactions that make you feel at home if you are a harem romcom fan like me. It breaks no boundaries, but because of that it stays within the expectations of a harem romcom enthusiasts. if you do not like heavy fanservice, then this isnt for you. Look elsewhere.

This manga is freaking amazing and hilarious. I don't know if it's just the translation I read, but the series had quite a few western pop culture references that made me laugh; there was even a Monty Python reference!
The story is somewhat unique and while the art and characters were rather average, my enjoyment of the series was massive.
Although as a warning, this series is practically hentai in some chapters and some things are cringe-worthy if you aren't used to the subject matter.
The ending was a bit thought provoking and somewhat deep until the last fifteen pages or so, but it still makes it one of the most enjoyable series I've read.
