Sumi Ashida

She is a very poor girl who lives with her elder brother and a lot of other kids that he brought home. Sumi is a very kind hearted girl that does everything for her family. Although she has feelings for Nozumu, in order to save her brothers from starvation she accepts to marry Souichirou.

The mere sight of roses seems to trigger some hidden trauma, causing a panic attack.


In the end of the novel, it is shown that Soichirou and Sumi had a child and lived happily together.
