Shishou

Shishou is Zofuu's master and his predecessor in drawing the Bat. The Bat requests Shishou "save the world" by killing the parents of Henry Charles Devivie - Gary and Cissy - before they have their child, thus preventing Henry's existence. Doing this will supposedly save Zofuu, whose life is put in danger by Henry should he be born.


However, as Shishou awaits orders from the Bat on behalf of future-Zofuu instructing him when to kill Gary and Cissy, the Bat becomes silent and the orders never come. Eventually, Shishou gives up waiting for the order and kills Gary - who is revealed the be the mass American-Japanese murderer - in order to save Cissy, whom he has developed a bond with. In the scuffle with Gary, however, Shishou also loses his life. It is later revealed that, shortly before leaving to kill Gary, he drew an alternate version of the future in manga form; one in which Cissy's child Henry doesn't grow up to become an evil person, thus also saving Zofuu. The Bat decides to go along with this and states to Shishou on his deathbed that it "follows his plot."
