Harumi Sugihara

Kira and Rei's classmate. She sleeps with Rei once and, having strong residual feelings for him, becomes antagonistic toward Kira once she begins spending time with Rei. She harassess Kira, jostling her desk so she cuts her hand and later stealing her shoes, eventually getting violent. She threatens to smash Kira's fingers with a dumbell so she will have to stop drawing, but when Kira says that she can relearn drawing with her other hand or even her feet because she can't lie and say she doesn't have feelings for Rei, Harumi is unable to follow through.

Harumi comes to terms with Kira and Rei's blossoming relationship and gives Kira her blessing, deeming her an acceptable match for Rei. She and Kira become good friends and she provides support for Kira through the ups and downs of her relationship with Rei and her troubled home life. Harumi later becomes Tatsuya's girlfriend.
