Shingeki no Kyojin review
So I've just recently got into the boom of season 4, of course speaking of anime. I am not the type of a person who gets hooked immediately to what people like, but it got to me after a while and I've started reading manga, because I've heard it's further than anime, and I don't like waiting, so here I am reviewing it.

I've watched this series previously with my brother, back in 2014-2015, but it was from time to time, and I wasn't always on the same page with the story. Well, I am glad I caught up with this series. I thought this is just another edgy story, about a hero who becomes vile for a little or no reason at all, but damn.. How much was I dissapointed.

-- Story (9/10) --

Well, I gotta give a 9 here. Why? The story might seem boring at first, it's just another shounen type of thingy. Main hero wants to get a revenge, he has a goal and it seems he's the best in line to achieve it. After you see it, you want to drop this manga, but you don't. Be glad that you didn't.

The story gets better after those first chapters. Characters get development, and the story drags you into some sort of a mystery. First you think those creatures are monsters, but then you slowly discover that something is not right. As you follow through the story, you get to know what actually happens in the world of Shingeki no Kyojin, and it is truly worse than just some big titan monsters.

This story is tragic. It is entertaining, but it is also sad. People want to cut their own throats to actually survive, and they keep going with the cycle of death, not even thinking about peace in the first place. All of these people are all the same, but they still think that someone is worse or better, and it just shows how tragic it turns out to be for both sides. This is what I love about this story - it feels so real. Why does it feel so real? Because it is so close to situations that could happen in the real world. People not finding a compromise, when it's just one step away. I think many people can relate that story to our world.

I also think that many people can take a lesson from that story. Our life is not all about revenge, hatred, or other goals that are important for you - you, as a single person. We first have to forgive to break from a cycle. It hurts, it hurts like hell - but this is what forgiving is all about. About burying your own pride and accepting other people's mistakes. If we actually care about others, we got to stop thinking about ourselves for a moment.

This is what Shingeki no Kyojin teaches us. It shows us how tragic some of those decisions are. It shows us how many people we can hurt in an instant, not even thinking about it twice. And our mistakes are going deeper, and deeper with every second.

-- Art (9/10) --

I liked the art. There's nothing much to say about it. I love that this art is not in a constant, since it's so hard to keep a really good quality and stable releases. We occasionally get a really awesome and detailed panel, and that's fine.

-- Character (10/10) --

Okay, so this is the part where some of the people may not agree with me. But I got to say it - that Mikasa is rather one of the worst developed characters. It is rather a side character to just build Eren's development from one of the sides. She doesn't have her own character, it's just all about Eren. Kinda same thing happens with Armin, which is, I'd say, a really flat character.

Then why 10/10, you may ask? Well, this is because some of these characters are really exceptional and I got to give the author a big plus for that. If we ignore some of these flat characters and dig through to the characters like Historia, Eren, Reiner, Erwin, Ymir, Kenny Ackerman - and how deep and well constructed they are, we actually discover gold.

I don't want to spoil so much, but I'd especially want to speak about Reiner. This character is just next level among all of these. It's about all of these factors - his split personality, his motives, his character, his mistakes and his failure. He feels so real and relatable, that it is so hard to describe. What truly shows how amazing this character is, is how you actually feel about him throughout this series. First you don't know him, then you like him, then you hate him, and finally you understand and pity him. This is what actually shows that he is a great and well developed character.

I'd also want to point out Erwin, since I think that'd not be a huge spoiler here talking about his character. It's just how he really feels like an army's commander. How he feels human and at the same time it's almost like you can't grasp humanity in him. His development is amazing, his plans, his logic. Especially his development, where he gets through the episode of letting his dreams go, and actually sacrificing everything for the sake of humanity.

-- Enjoyment (10/10) --

I gotta say it, I may be a weirdo because of that, but I don't care - I've cried a lot while reading this series. I've cried a lot while reading Reiner's story, while getting along with some of these characters. This story is not really enjoyable, I'd not call it "enjoyable", because it is sad and tragic. It's entertaining, but at the same time it hurts you a lot. You see tragedy of each certain character and it really pains you. And it is intentional. But why? Because it teaches us a lot of things, for example how we should not let our hatred let loose just because of our own goals, or our own revenge. This is why enjoyment is on 10/10, because it's just a new whole level. This series doesn't just introduce a new world to us, a new story, threat, or whatever it is. It teaches us some really important things, and this is a big props for that.

OVERALL (9.5/10) - (rounding it up to 10/10 in main review's overall score)

I think this manga is something else than just a comic book. It's on the same level as the other series like GoT, Vikings, or whatever else it is. It may be a blasphemy for some people, that I am comparing a comic book series to series with real actors, but what does it change? If the characters feel real, if they show true emotions and if all of that is well written, why not compare it to something like that?

Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den review
Review from chapter 1 to 14:

Kishimoto strikes back! And this time he want to outclass even his previous success, Naruto. Can Kishi-sensei succeed? Right now he has all the cards to do it!

Story --- (10)

At the beginning the lore is simple: saving the whole Galaxy from a mysterious threat that will destroy everything. The key to save the Galaxy is finding out the Pandora's Box, who needs 7 Special Keys in order to open it.
As you can notice by reading it the story it takes many elements from the Japanese and Buddhist folklore and mythology (something that Kishimoto loves to do since), mixing them perfectly in a fantasy sci-fi story.
I won't post spoilers...lemme just say that the series did well in terms of not explaining too much at the start and then spreading it out when the time was right. The result is an amazing chapter, the most important one (chapter 14).
With the hype of an intriguing and amazing story...and with some very sad and astonishing moments...the story takes a 10!

Art --- (9)

I won't lie. At the beginning the art was a bit hard to understand...not much hard tbh. However Okubo (right hand of Kishimoto for more than 6 years, since the Naruto era) improved A LOT from chapter 6 and above. In fact you will recognise the same Naruto's art in many panels, especially in the attacks/destruction panels...that are VERY outstanding! Vote - 9

Characters --- (10)

Hachimaru, the main character, is not the classic shonen hero...he's realistic. At the beginning he acts like a normal kid once he find out to have "superpowers". However he will get one of the most amazing character-improving I've ever seen in a shonen. Also thanks to one of the most sad moments ever appeared in a shonen.
Hachimaru's dad is a real hero, with a extremely important role.
Several other characters, Master Daruma included, are interesting, cool and OP! With many secrets that we're going to discover in the future.
...Let alone that Samurai 8 has one of the most badass villain (Ata) I've seen in years. The best part is ...this villain is the first of the series and he'll play a huge and important part in the future.
Let alone that several chars are based on the Japanese and Buddhist folklore! Vote - 10

Enjoyment --- (10)

I won't say much here 'cause of spoilers...but trust me when I say that Kishimoto and Okubo have created a future masterpiece! Many secrets, cool chars, OP situatios, incredible powers, Wisdom Kings, space journey etc. etc. Vote --- (10)

OVERALL --- (10) Samurai 8 has all the right cards to become a future masterpiece!

Dethrone review
"This is just a shorter Ikkitousen" is what I thought while reading this, it shares alot of the same concepts of it too, with few ideas of it's own.
There's quite a few things I disliked about this Manga. Just a cautionary note as my review contains spoilers.

//Spoilers Likely//

Story: 5

The setting is a School for students who possess the "Dragon Queens Spirit" a fighting enhancer that's past down through generations, ending up with the family member deemed most worthy of it.
The School is the place for these students to test their skills in combat against each other, with the School setting up a Tournament to determine who's the strongest Dragon Queen, and to settle the scores of feuds of generations past.
Freshmen are particularly made unwelcome, with older students participating in "Hunts" (random battles) against them.

The Manga certainly doesn't hang around, as right away Masamune (the MC) is jumped by a sempai. And what an MC with have!, Masamune is (large chested - quite the hindrance, as the loser of one of these bouts has their Dragon Queen Spirit stolen by having their breasts groped!) and dumb, but loves to fight. In one bout Masamune loses her Dragon Queen Spirit, and after moping around for a long time she comes to the realisation that... She can just win it back! Quite the intelligent lass ain't she?, But hey? at least her rack is nice? her ass too (we see them often enough) and yes, this Manga is verrry Ecchi, with lots of low angles, pantyshots and shredded clothing and occasional nudity.

My main gripe is... that's all there is to this - random fights, fanservice, side stories that lead to nowhere, more fanservice and... Ohhh the ending...? the ending felt super rushed, almost as if the Manga was dropped or something, made me super mad and disappointed.

Art: 6

One of the few things this does fairly well... for the womenfolk at least, them having their own distinct looks and beauty with their *ahem* ...assets clearly having extra special attention.

As for the Guys? ...well their distinctive too, but in a different way... they looks like they belong in a different Manga!. Maybe it has to do with the little Male presence in the Manga (the Dragon Queen fighters are all Female) whatever the reason, it's bad.

Characters: 5

Masamune: Large chested (and proud of it too), dumb but brave, has a strange habit of neatly folding her School Sweater before every bout. She's a lousy MC (in my opinion)

Kaori: Masamune's friend and sparring partner. She loves Pro Wrestling, incorporating many of the moves into her combat style. She also is quite trendy, wearing many different headbands, which is a nice touch.

Shion: Masamune's "Master" (although she hates being called that, scolding Masamune everytime she says it) she offers her advice, and is a silent observer.

Mari-Mari: Another of Masamune's friends. She's sure of herself and is hotheaded.

Natsume: Kaori's roommate. It's safe to say that she plays for the Yuri team, taking every advantage to fondle unwary females. She also wears revealing clothing and sexy lingerie.

What little Male characters there are, are mostly creepy jocks, who act as landing pads for airborne Females, but they get a nice view at least.

Enjoyment: 3

Started off good but became super repetitive really quickly. The fight scenes are great, with many different styles on display, but their mostly pointless (especially when comes to the ending) and it just feels too confined.
The characters are generic, nobody stands out as likeable or relatable, but the fanservice was decent at least.

Overall: 3

The heavy emphasis on Ecchi means that this likely won't appeal to everyone. But If you like to see fists & clothing fly, this could be something to check out. Anyone looking for something short to read may be interested in this also, just don't be expecting a masterpiece or anything.

Land Lock review
“Controlling information at will… gives you control of humans.” – Land Lock

In today’s information society with globalization, digitization and robotic systems, where these systems are constantly increasing their tasks, information access and at the same time their power – what kind of effects will this have on society? Can “systems” or “robots” become so powerful and technology go so far that having control over these systems means to have full authorization over human’s life, to the point that even killing people and erasing them completely from society without anyone noticing is possible? Through 37 short chapters Land Lock tries to address some of these, and similar, issues – but the problem are just that – there are only 37 short chapters, and it may seem that the story is very rushed towards the end, leaving big plot holes, unanswered questions and little to no room for character development and backstories.

Story: 6
The story is neither very unique nor really unoriginal, but it’s a pretty standard survival story about a high school student who gets death penalty for a crime he didn’t commit, but who’s plane to a prison crash-lands in a frozen wasteland instead. With his grandfather being a hunter, he utilizes the survival skills his grandfather taught him to do his best to find out the circumstances of his situation – and survive.

Characters: 5
Despite the fact that some characters are slightly interesting and unique, most of the characters are either generic, boring and uninteresting or completely insane and twisted. Most characters are inconsistent to how they firstly are described, and it is difficult to relate to any of the characters because they are very unrealistic. At the same time, it seems that many of the characters are just in the story because “more characters are needed”, which makes it so that many of the characters do not add anything to the story at all.

Art: 7
The art is consistent and coherent and overall looks pretty good. It’s a bit dark-themed which fits the mood for the manga pretty well.

Enjoyment: 7
Even though the story is pretty cliché (being a plane-crash survival story) and there are clearly a lot of big faults with the characters and the plot, I personally had a great time reading this manga, the mystery element combined with drama and action keeps you hooked and makes you want to read more to connect the dots and find out exactly what is happening.

Overall: 7
Although the manga clearly is rushed, the pacing is a bit off and the manga doesn’t give close to enough room for the characters to be described and developed, I still believe Land Lock is successful in conveying its message – in today’s information society it is, more so than ever, important to be cautious and critical of full trust in and dependence on technology, the internet and the systemization of society.

I’d definitely recommend this manga to anyone who likes mystery or survival-oriented mangas, because this is kind of a mix between those two. Still I’d actually recommend this to everyone in general because of its’ unique and interesting viewpoint on digitization and systemization of society, which to be honest is the major reason I’m giving it a this high rating.
