Brilliant artwork on a story that is otherwise one dimensional.

As one would expect from null to OP-type stories, it's easy to root for our protagonist at the beginning until the ease of how this leveling becomes apparent. It's like getting lost in a familiar city and finding new shortcuts. A lot of it is repetitive in getting to the leveling bits.

Opportunity lost in character development (and skill polishing) overall with many of the other characters condemned to background noise; even for a title named Solo Leveling some filler ins for world building sake are important. The attempt at that is a mom who's storyline is condemned to obscurity before we can care for her and a sister whose purpose is still lost on the reader.
Skill upgrades breeze by like nothing and shadow warriors are acquired so easily.

That said, this won't disappoint fans of the genre. Nothing new from the storyline. Artwork is stellar.

Worth another read? Unless there's no other publication. Doubt it.

One of the most popular manga of this time, Attack on Titan definitively deserves the hype.

The story starts with a strong mystery aspect, that culminates into one of the best plot twists ever made. As the story progresses it becomes grayer and grayer, to a point where no one is truly good or evil, and there is no clear moral path. It takes a very realistic approach to conflict, and its characters are very diverse in ideologies.

When I started this series, in many ways, as someone who has beliefs in some moral principles, I found this manga to be challenging to read. It is very cruel to its characters, and more often than not deals with the idea that a cruel iron fist should be preferred to mercy, and that inhumane actions may be the right way to go... an idea that ends being thoroughly, extensively deconstructed without ever being sweetened. And that is pretty outstanding.

For the rare ones who claim Attack on Titan promotes a fascist ideology, I believe it is not the case, you just have to see how the events of the series are depicted suggest.

An incredibly gray story, with many fascist elements either evoked or used but subverted. An incredible plot twist. And gray, very human characters. It's an intense read at times, but it is one of the best stories I know.

Pros:
- the most original fantasy world of this day and age with great execution
- Complex characters with understandable and realistic motives
- Cohesive and gripping story from beginning till the end
- You can notice art developing significantly through entirety of the title (both quality and originality)

Cons:
- Main Character for the first half of story is one-noted and annoying
- There may be too much coincidences even for supernatural fiction

It's a shame and a blessing that this manga got also one of the best anime adaptations. It's not obvious choice which should you pick first.

There is huge chance that this series may become your number one even if you have read Death Note (I'm really trying to fill the review and not to bore you)

Jumping straight to the point, this manga isn't good. The main character constantly flip flops back and forth from being a badass to a cry baby. His whole reason he's a badass is because he likes a girl, but will shut down and cry in situations where main girl might die instead of trying to save her. All the characters seem super generic, and you aren't given a reason to care about them. They is a lot of perverted humor, which normally I can enjoy, but its always out of nowhere. The humor always seems like its added last minute because of how "serious" the situation is getting. I give it a 3 because I was at least able to finish all 3 volumes.

The best part of this manga is the art and its only fine. Its generic early 2000s art, and has no uniqueness to it. Most of the main characters remind me of random background characters from Beyblade or something similar.

Would not recommend this unless you just want to waste time. I was able to read all 3 volumes, but just barely. This series was canceled early, and for a good reason. Honestly don't understand how it got and English release

Before starting this series, it's necessary to have read Mao Dante and the original 1972 Devilman manga as several events in Devilman Lady ties in with the stories of the mentioned manga. That being said, Devilman Lady is very well written but has very grotesque sexual content and this series is not for the easily disturbed. If you choose to stick around with it, certain rewards are appearances of Devilman, Demon Lord Dante and several other characters while offering a dark yet ambiguous insight on morality.

The story begins with our leading lady, Jun Fudo, having a nightmare of her former career as a Olympian swimmer. We learn that she developed murderous tendencies due to losing in the Olympics so to avoid these vile thoughts Jun then becomes a teacher. It is during a field trip where her origin as Devilman Lady commences as her students are being eaten and violated by Devil Beasts. Jun herself is a victim of sexual abuse who then becomes a demon to save her students. Appearing at the scene is the organization known as The Human Alliance who have been hunting down Devil Beasts in secret. A member of this organization becomes Jun's friend being named Ran Asuka. After some exposition, Jun begins her journey as Devilman Lady and seeks to provide safety for humanity by killing Devil Beasts.

Most of the series is very episodic but manages to be filled with great characterization as Jun is constantly questioning her violent actions as she is potentially evil as the beasts she hunts. Most short stories have a sense of tragedy as in this current world any human suffering grief or seeking vices has the potential of becoming a Devil Beast which often leads with a sad back story as to why they let their souls be consumed by evil. This conflict tends to affect Jun's idea of heroism as she tries to save their souls but often ends in failure, thus questioning the separation between good and evil. This is further expanded in later chapters as more Devil Beasts are being formed along with the appearance of Devil Men (beasts who fight for justice).

This is where the series picks up on the previous message in the Devilman manga which explained the evils of men and the need for anti-war. In Devilman Lady, the message follows a similar meaning but a very different presentation. As an example, Devilman Lady is losing sight of her humanity and believes herself to no longer be human. When she sees Devil Men executing Devil Beasts she thinks to herself "Are we killing our own kind?" This type of mentality is what makes the series interesting as a better phrase to sum up the story is "Who Watches The Watchmen?" Most of the "heroes" we encounter gradually become corrupt or eventually lose sight of their initial goal of protecting humanity. A greater emphasis of this story theme are its final chapters where the series takes a "Devilman route" which Armageddon is on the rise, especially with the prophecy of the revival of Demon Lord Dante.

Aside from the conflict of good vs evil, Devilman Lady also offers a few homages to Go Nagai's previous manga but most specifically Devilman. During the middle of the story, the setting is changed to Hell which offers the appearance of multiple Devilman characters including Devilman himself. These few chapters add an extra layer to Devilman's character as we see him a bit more mature on the subject matter of corruption and offering words of encouragement to Jun Fudo.

Go Nagai's art work in this series feels grand, especially in the scenes depicting Hell. Most of his character designs are more muscular and three-dimensional but still retains his gritty and frightening style he's known for. In my opinion, this manga may be Go Nagai's best in visual appeal and the same can almost be said about the writing. My real disapproval of this series is the ending as it comes off as very out of character and inconclusive. I will not spoil the ending but I'm certain that this finale could have gone in a different direction. Upon further thought there are some unresolved events that don't get a proper resolution.

Regardless of the questionable ending, Devilman Lady certainly captures the same feel as the original Devilman to the point where I would consider Devilman Lady as a sequel. It's definitely worth reading although one must be prepared for several uncomfortable scenes of sexual content as its very close of being a hentai about demons(imagine a more explicit version of Berserk). Devilman Lady dives into the mental struggle of heroes pursing justice and the sins they commit to justify their actions. The series is very episodic but contains plenty of scenarios to fully express its story and does it splendidly.

This manga is… something. It was passed around as a “so stupid it’s hilarious” thing but I don’t think it’s even that. And to be quite honest, it’s really hard not to give an equally shitty review for it but I’m going to try to be as professional as possible.

The premise is that the girl moves back into town after 5 years to her old house and transfers to North School because she wants to get a boyfriend. Her best friend, Kanata, is the designated childhood friend and tries to stop her but she’s an Independent Woman, until she gets to class.

Naturally, she meets the guy in her class and he’s an asshole. In the middle of class, the guy punches her in the stomach after learning her name is Hina.

When she wakes up, there’s these guys who wants to rape her and it’s revealed that her childhood friend is in a gang named Hina (go on, guess what the gang is named after) and he tells her that he missed her so much that he named his gang after her.

More upset that he’s a delinquent, she avoids him until she meets the guy that punched her in the stomach. She actually gets in the car with him just to defy Kanata because, she’s still mad about him being a delinquent.

Only to find out that she was set up to get raped again. The guy who led her there decides to defend her and she almost gives it up to protect him (I don’t get it either).

Then Kanata manages to save them all because it’s a mess anyway. Kanata reveals he loves her and the two try to have a date with each other. In the end, though, she goes back to Shugo, who tries to force himself upon her next.

And that’s when I clocked out. There’s something else about fake amnesia and something about how uncool it is for friends to fight among each other but really, don’t waste your time with this. The characters are so paper thin and the heroine learns nothing.

Not to say the continuous attempted rape was her fault by any means. The first time was because she was punched in the stomach and the second time is because the guy tricked her into believing that he means well. And the third, well, I guess that was him being jealous and because let’s add some forced drama that’s going to be ignored anyway.

Shuugo is what happens when a shitty shoujo male lead goes completely unchecked and does whatever he wants, consequence free (oh, did I mention he’s also rich?). Hina is what happens when a shitty shoujo female lead does whatever she wants with only one person saying to stop to her (and being stopped by her using “comical” means) and her doing what she wants, consequence free.

The saddest part of it is that while Kanata does do something rather shitty to her, he actually does apologize for it later and tries to make it up to her. Then again it happened at the end of the manga so I can’t really commend him for that. It’s a paper thin story line that’s barely held together.

One part in particular that really made me go, “Really?” is when Kanata was in an accident while Hina and Shuugo were having (consensual) sex. When Hina gets the call, she runs out of there and heads straight to the hospital to deal with the fake amnesia subplot. After she comes out of the room, she overhears Shuugo saying that Kanata is in the hospital.

Alright. Let me first go by saying that, once again, this plot is paper thin at best. The whole reason why Shuugo even bothered with Hina was to get back at Kanata’s gang. They never explained why they were rivals in the first place other than the location factor (North & South). They kept making it seem that Shuugo is going to be nice, for real this time I swear, only for him to use her as another ploy to get back at Kanata.

Kanata does his damenest to protect Hina from Shuugo but Hina actually punishes him when he does do the sensible thing. Please don’t think that I think Hina “owes” Kanata something for saving her (although it comes as no surprise that he actually wants her and makes no objections to people making the claim that Hina’s is “his”) – far from it. There have been more than enough times that Shuugo is clearly up to no good and clearly has no good intentions despite him saying the contrary the very next page.

So when questioned on his intentions (gang relations), Shuugo pulls out the jealousy card and actually says that Hina cares more about Kanata than him. And it’s really random considering Kanata’s in the hospital because of him and his gang.

There’s another questionable scene where the gang bangers (after Shuugo decides to let Hina escape and they turn on him), Hina tries to stop them by saying, “Friends fighting each other is totally uncool!” Does she realize what sort of position she’s in?

Normally, I don’t like saying saying that shoujo heroines are dumb because there’s usually some kind of mitigating factor that lands her in the situation (for example, being punched in the stomach in the middle of class) and usually it’s due to bad writing and forced conflicts.

Not only is this manga clearly guilty for bad writing and forced conflicts, but the heroine is really dumb. Seriously. If you know someone’s out to hurt you and do you wrong because of an unexplained rivalry between two schools and one gang leader is your childhood friend, then yeah, it’s probably the best idea not to mess with him or believe a word he says – even if you’re hot for him.

I wish I could pass this off as something stupid to pass around and make fun of but because of attempted rape, I don’t think it’s that funny anymore. If it didn’t have that, then yeah, I would definitely chose this to those who need a good laugh after a hard day.

This manga is a storm of offensive cliches and an awful protagonist that is vastly worse than the creator thinks he is.

Even for 2002, the treatment of the trans woman character is complete garbage. The story takes the extremely offensive "...but it is gay to want to romance her," a protagonist who should be the villain, one dimensional characters, and various other standard crossdressing/trans manga written by cis people cliches and blends them into a disgusting slurry.

Even by the standards of a lot of similar manga, the manga quickly wears out the scenes where the protagonist ogles women like a sex offender.

These types of stories are nearly always problematic, but I cannot recommend this manga even for those who like such problematic stories.

Oh Yeah the review.

Well its kind of hard to review a canceled series, its like:
"hey this series is really good, go check it out, get hyped and then NEVER LEARN WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPED CAUSE ITS CANCELED!! "
In one word: Unique
I mean all the characters are great, colourful ,fun and awesome and i love the main character, he is sarcastic and full of curiosity towards the thing around him.
The supporting character are pretty unique. There is this guy who acts really cool and looks really cool and then you call to his thoughts and his is all panicking and tries to keep his cool. There's also this girly dressed guy who is really fabulous and kinda attracted to the main character who is a lot of fun too. if i had to say something negative about the supporting characters is the heroin is a little weak but in my opinion you can overlook it. All the fun stuff is with Haichi and his intonation with other characters.
The world building/ story its kinda formal-ish, "we need to get that thing, here is a education back-story, go to a new place, make new nakama, fight the bad guy, merge Haichis powers with new character, win, get something, memories, powers whatever" there a been many formula based stories like Inuyasha, Fairy tale, the ancient magus pride etc, and i find it kinda unique. I can't think of other series with this formula, other people may not get to it, but for a shonen manga i think is awesome.

Yeah but lets not forget is a cancels series. When a series is meant to be cancelled a guy come ups to the creator and says.
"Your manga sucks, you have 7 more chapter to draw"

I give it a 9 cause the potential it had, fresh and good. The artwork is also one of a kind, the characters are fun, the battles are awesome.

The creator decides to no give an actual ending but to show the readers the potential that could have and I'm all for it, who know he may get back to it.
And this manga had a lot of potential to be great like other great Shoune Jump manga before it. When this shit started everyone was f*king hyped ! Youtubers spent time to review every chapter every week and if you google image of it you will see som fun art. Get this?? people actually spent time to review it and make fun art. That sh*t is good!

Then this happened. Its got canceled.Jump readers didn't like it lovely, i think if it was on Sunday or Magazine it may do better.

I feel if this manga was meant to be voted by from people out of japan, it would get the love that it deserves and the ending that it deserved.

The story is cliched, like any other shoujo anyone must have read. So why am I witting review for this?
Its quite simpl, I'm fond of the mangaka and didn't see any reviews for this manga. Nevertheless despite its banal storyline I enjoyed the manga with respect to the characters, and the anticipation about which guy would finally win over her heart.
For someone who is loves love triangles and complications in love, I would recommend this manga which has some twists.
The aspect of the geo science was interesting, with which I was able to learn some fun facts about the rocks.

STORY: 8/10
A rather unique story if I say so myself. I can't recall anything (or that I've been able to read) of recent memory that is similar to this manga in terms of plot. The manga flowed very naturally, leading off with simple but sufficient character introductions. Then transitioning to the meat and potatoes of the manga, i.e character induced interactions, events and scenarios. Minor conflicts and questions were being developed and eventually played out to a heart-warming ending. Naturally being a short 11 chapter manga, it suffered from a slight feel of a rushed/"I want more!" but rest assured it was a decent wrap up to the story. The individual components of the story were handled wonderfully. The comedic tones worked well alongside the romance aspects and when the manga wanted you to feel emotional, it succeeded.


ART: 7.5/10
The artwork for this manga was superb all around. Character designs were clean, crisp and drawn extremely well. The main cast as well as supporting characters were appealing and detailed enough to stand out on their own and facial expressions were clearly defined. The drawer (Soumatou) gave off a impression of being well-versed as he was able to also create great background work as well. The ability to ink perfect details, tones and shading really bought each panel to life and set the proper mood for each and every chapter or scene.


CHARACTERS: 7.5/10
Sana (the female lead) is probably the highlight of character development in this story. Her transition and growth to try to humanize herself was a real joy to experience and often caused her to overshadow her male opposite most of the time. However, that's not to say that the male lead was a brick wall. The way he handled himself throughout the manga was notable and his on-screen presence really carried a majority of the story. The supporting characters were also done very well. Despite being somewhat one trick ponies, their chemistry with each other as well with the pair of mains were outstanding and resulted in laughs, smirks and grins.


ENJOYMENT/OVERALL 7.75/10
Don't be hesitant about the premise of the manga, it's really a good read! I definitely would recommend this to readers of all kinds that want to enjoy a light-hearted rom-com in a non-traditional setting. The character interactions and romance aspects between the male and female protagonists were great and left me wanting for more. To be specific, the female lead Sana is definitely a memorable character; a cliche archetype to some but simply too adorable to forget so soon.
