Solo Leveling review
Solo Leveling is the new popular Manhwa which has taken the community by storm. It even made it into the top 5 of myanimelist, which was really suprising to me so I was intrigued to check it out. I finally got around to reading it & caught up with it in two days, as of now I have read 110 chps of the Manhwa which also marks the end of the first season & it prolly will go on short hiatus

Story
The Story of Solo Leveling starts off quite simple & feels another one of those "zero to hero" kinda stories (and let's Just say I am not a fan of those), but Solo Leveling adds a interesting twist to it i.e The World is actually supposed to be a game & all the characters act in accordance. This factor helps the differentiate itself frm it's many counterparts but in the process also manages to feel unique. Our main who is supposedly the (main character" of the game & is slowly leveling & soon becomes really op.. There r still a lot of mysteries which r yet to be solved, though I presume the final obstacle would be the system. One thing I didn't liked was Jeju Island arc which straight felt like they straight up copied the Chimera Ant Arc, though they didn't took the core themes of it, I think they could've done some changes instead of opting such a subtle way

Characters
The characters r quite good & have a depth to them. I essentially really like the slow transformation of Sung Jin Woo's character as he slowly progressive, with him become more inhuman as he levels up.. Besides him there isn't really stand out but all of them r quite likable though I presume we will go more in depth about some characters in Season 2 like Chae Hae In.

Art
Easily the best part about the series, the art is really good & well polished. I was actually quite surprised as I don't normally expect this level of art from s Manhwa. It really helps to encapsulate the impact of what is happening & sometimes I just stare at the panels for few seconds Just to properly appreciate it.

Overall Enjoyment
Overall I really enjoyed this & had good time with it, though this is only my impression of the first season & it might/might not change in future.

SCHOOL DAYS review
This was one of the worst things I've read in awhile. Aside from the overall boorishness of the manga, the ending to it just sums up my feelings.... But in the wrong way.

Story: 2
It stars Makoto, a high school student who has a crush on a girl, Katsura. A classmate, Saionji, finds out about his crush and decides to help him out. This evolves into Makoto and Katsura dating. So far, cliche but something to waste an afternoon on, so ok.

For the first 6 or so chapters it's just a typical "shy factor" revolving around our 2 lovebirds liking each other, but not knowing how to express it when they're together. Still cliche, and starting to actually get boring. This changes for the worst from boring to annoying when Saionji starts to fall in love with Makoto, and even kisses him. Makoto, being a jackass, doesn't stop being around Saionji or tell Katsura or even tell Saionji to suck the proverbial knob because they're not together. Instead, he keeps it a secret and continues to date Katsura. Ladies and gentlemen, our protagonist.

By chapter 10, Katsura finds out and is heartbroken by this. Her feeling of being betrayed is understandable, and we're suppose to feel bad for her and see the other two as jackasses. Well that feeling worked... A lot. When Katsura confronts the two, she says that everything is okay that she's glad to have them as friends. This cat-strangling bipolarity lasts about a page before she starts to call out Saionji for the bitch that she is. She then pulls out a knife and tries to kill her. (awesome)

She is saved, for Makoto steps in to save her. We're then greeted to a scene in the hospital a week later when Saionji comes to comfort her. Feeling bad , he says he's dumping her and wants to live with Katsura (who is not in jail for whatever reason). We're then greeted by wonderful phone message of Katsura's little sister crying and shocked by Katsura lying motionless on the floor bleeding to death. The chapter/series ends with Saionji giving exposition that she killed Katsura so that she could forever be with Makoto..... Words cannot describe how bad of an ending that is, let alone how much a waste of the manga is.

Art: 7
The art is alright. I'm not the type of person who really cares much for how good the art is (unless it looks like Steven Hawking drew it) so it passes

Characters:
-Makoto - Okay at first, but turns into an asshole who ruins the life of a girl who did nothing wrong except love him
-Katsura- The only likeable character unfortunately, considering how she has little personality except being shy, quiet, and uncontrollable in love. I honestly wanted Katsura to kill Saionji because she deserves some payback
-Saionji - The worst character. The preppy type who can't get out of anyone's' business, sets up 2 people only to "force" one to cheat on the other with her, and kills Katsura with nothing resembling karma. She is the definition of a bitch

Overall - It's horrid. The ending just takes everything for me. The love triangle was bad enough, but then we're greated by two characters who later turn psychotic for little reason, though Katsura has more of a reason (shy, no friends, just found out she was being cheated on). But what's even greater is how the ending lets the worst character not only live, but get the protagonist while the only likeable character dies.

Skip to the end if you only want my conclusive thoughts.

I enjoy going to my local book store once or twice a month to pick up a few random volumes of manga I've never heard of before that look appealing to me to see what bizarre surprises they might hold.

The art is what initially drew me in for this particular read. It seemed to sport a similar aesthetic and vibe to what I had just caught up reading (Murcielago) and I was probably subconsciously looking for another manga that seemed similar to take its place while I painfully wait for the next volumes to release in English.

As I flipped through the pages of this manga, it seemed promising, but I was only met with disappointment with my purchase in the end after having read the first volume. It's not that it's not worth any money, just not retail $13. If you can get it for around $8 I'd say go for it and give it a try!

The biggest flaws of this manga:

My biggest complaint about the story is that there are a lot of sexual brother/sister references. Not sure why that's necessary to add unless the mangaka has some kinky fetish for that. Not for me. I don't care how cute you draw the girls, it just is uncomfortable to read.

The main female reaper girl with pink hair (on the cover) would be a perfectly enjoyable character if she didn't have to refer to the main male character and herself as TOI and MOI literally every single time she talks. Besides this being SUPER ULTRA ANNOYING, this was just confusing at first as it's already hard enough to remember everyone's names in a new story anyway so adding in some pet names that rhyme just made it all the more confusing to follow. I was really looking forward to liking this character but nope. She's the worst protagonist of them all. Not to mention she uses a freaking cane with a FOOT at the end of it to STAB people with through the chest. Doesn't make for compelling or impactful fight scenes.

I've read my fair share of manga and know when a story is hard to follow or not. This story lands somewhere right in the middle. Some scenes I would think I knew what was happening only to realize that I actually didn't. It's hard to follow in some parts, not all, but enough that the engagement suffers as a result. You would have to read it twice through to truly understand everything that's going on in every scene.

Now I will share the good aspects to this manga:

The art is wonderful. The aesthetic is solid and pleasing to look at.

The most enjoyable part of this story for me was the drama with the main male character and his cute female friend having a crush on him and being jealous of the reaper girl and the fact all he cares about is saving his sister and thus doesn't pay her as much attention as she'd like. Basically the main character's friends are the best part of the story and make it worth while.

Overall:

This is kind of like one of those stories that is so cheesy and awful at times that it's good. The story has a lot of cliches and lacks depth, but there's enough there to grapple with to keep entertained, even if there are some weirdo sexual vibes thrown in every now and then. I don't foresee myself collecting the rest of the series at least for a while. Perhaps I will eventually since it's only 3 volumes and provided I can get them for around $9 each because there is way too much manga out there far more worth my money at retail $13, but I think I was entertained enough to give the remaining volumes a shot.

BOYS BE ZOMBITIOUS review
'Boys Be Zombitious' is a short read; if you're considering reading it, just go ahead. It'll take you barely more than a minute.

The plot follows the typical idea of zombies having overrun the area; no reason is given for this, but that's to be expected, considering the length of this one-shot. The main character, in the midst of this apocalyse, is looking for 'love' - both the feeling, and some badge which you can buy with chocolate. Consequently, he goes around killing zombies and giving zombie girls scores of how attractive they are, in the hope of eventually finding one with a score of '100'. In regards to the composition of 'Boys Be Zombitious', however, kudos should be given to the mangaka, for avoiding the typical gorefest found within these types of stories, but, nonetheless, there is some censorship which felt unnecessary - especially for something labelled as 'horror'.

Otherwise, there's nothing special to report about the main character - how developed can a character be if they only appear in 20-odd pages? But he does strike the reader as somewhat mature, and doesn't make what could be seen as a childish plot appear so.

Overall, 'Boys Be Zombitious' is a solid average. It would be hard for such a short one-shot to be anything else. But, that said, it does have potential as a mix between comedy and horror, if the mangaka chose to prolong it - and, seeing as the reader is left on something like a cliffhanger - I presume that means there is the possibility of it being continued in the future.
