If you're looking for a kind of story that features heavy themes of phycological horror and suspense then this would be a good read. I would say that this story portrays the aspects of emotionally / mentally abusive relationships well. Especially from the point of view of a younger person, like the main character, who might not fully understand. Combined with the feeling of being trapped. Making it the realist kind of horror out there that many can relate to.

I also think the art style compliments well to give the eeriness that this mother is portraying in certain scenes. As well as showing what the main character is feeling or thinking in situations. I personally love shows with dark themes so for me this was an awesome read. I've filled my brain with more messed up things, so I wasn't as emotionally impacted as others have stated after reading but it definitely left me thinking about it afterwards.
