This is the single most unsettling manga I've ever read. All 75 chapters had me tense and bristling with raw anxiety. The characters are realistic but alien, the plot is a nightmare realized, and the art works wonders at imparting a feeling of subtle dread, and the impression that something is always just a bit off. To be frank, I'm not even sure I can say I enjoyed Chi no Wadachi, but what I can say is that for a work of art to elicit such a visceral response speaks to its quality. This manga will make you very afraid of the subtle, horrific emotional abuse that humans are capable of putting each other through.
