Golden Days review

I started this manga thinking that it would just be a fluffy filler read, and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Aside from the cheesiness of time travel, I found that the story and characters had a genuine feel to them. I felt emotionally involved with the characters, and enjoyed the relationship between Mitsuya and Jen. It was not the kind of story that I would normally expect to be labeled as shounen ai.
The ending was very bittersweet, but I appreciate that the mangaka let things play out naturally without adding in some unnatural plot twist to give everyone a happy ending.
The art, though not breath-taking, was very good. My only complaint in regards to the visual side of the experience is that there are times when I found it difficult to determine which character was speaking.
