In a nutshell
Yukishiro Nanako does not know how to talk to people, so she communicates using senryuu. It is not because of the fact that she cannot speak, she just finds it much easier to communicate that way. Thankfully, this does not prevent her from being a rather cheerful and kind girl. Moreover, in the literary club, she is a member of, no one tries to reproach her for that. She is also surrounded by friends, who have rather peculiar personalities. Senryuu Shoujo is a romantic comedy about the fans of senryuu.

I have always found it very difficult to understand Japanese poetry. I do not quite understand its beauty, it never makes sense, and I still fail to appreciate it. Either it is because of the cultural differences, or because of the fact that to understand it, you are supposed to read it in Japanese and know about the time a specific literature piece was written in. However, this manga manages to show how Japanese poetry might look in everyday life, and it turned out to be quite funny. By the way, senryuu is a Japanese form of short poetry that is very similar to haiku in construction. Senryuu tend to be more centered on comedy and dark humor, whereas haiku tend to be about nature.

Is This Good
Let us start, perhaps, with the main point of this manga, with the comedy aspect. I cannot say that the humor is amazing, but, at the same time, it is impossible to read this manga without smiling. Literally everyone will make you laugh, the characters, their relationship, poems, but sometimes there will be something else. Sometimes the jokes will be somewhat weird, for example, the episode with the rabbit. But, let us make it a surprise, no spoilers. Other than that, there is also a great number of other random episodes in this manga and it would be somewhat of a problem to describe them in one sentence. But one thing that I can say is that they are so much fun!

Characters
Character wise, there are plenty of weird folks. Take for example the protagonist, who started believing in the power of poetry in the middle of a street fight. He did try to devote himself to Japanese poetry, yet never succeeded. And you can also endlessly talk about the main heroine of the manga, who is also somewhat of a weird girl, to say the least. You will also meet a bunch of supporting characters, who are as weird as the two protagonists. With that being said, while the characters do look somewhat cliché, for some reason it works. Together these weirdos form a very likable group of people that is just very enjoyable to follow.

This How Romantic Comedies Should Look Like
This manga offers a light, unobtrusive romance, or rather a transitional state from friendship to "couple". There will be no forced dramas and some unnecessary cheap fan-service, this manga is just a perfect example of how a romance manga should look like that is why it is so enjoyable! Highly recommended to everyone, who cannot live without good rom-coms.
