Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun review

This is a typical romcom manga, but with cooler characters and a satisfying ending.

I actually really liked the variety of characters, unfortunately some characters were just thrown to the side and got little development (I’m looking st you, sasayan).

Story wise, I’m glad it didn’t drag on incessantly and it ended perfectly. Plot elements are okay, but it felt like I’ve read this storyline before. To me it felt like a mix of Ao Haru Ride and Nisekoi.

The art is on point. Everyone looks good and it’s easy to recognise characters (something I regard as good character design).

I was in the mood for romance stuff and this manga was enjoyable. Don’t look down on the number of chapters, each chapter has at least 40 pages and can get close to 60 pages. I gave this series a 6 before reading volume 13, and after that volume I raised it to 7. The main point for Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, is that you fall in love with the characters, and you watch them grow up throughout the series, and after you finish you’ll feel like you’ve watched your own children.
