Bleach review

I have a love-hate relationship with Bleach.

It was my first anime ever, fourth-grade little me watching eyes-wide, the very first episode of the anime. It's what got me hooked onto anime in the first place.

And the world of Bleach is really something spectacular. The creativity behind all the Zanpakutos, the history of the Vizards, the evil behind Aizen--all of these are so well-crafted.

But the plot as a whole? Very one-dimensional.

STORY: It goes, arc after arc, about how Ichigo is weak, then becomes stronger. But by the next arc, he faces a bigger, badder boss, and needs to get stronger again.

ART: Good in still frames, but the action frames are really hard to make out some times. I was spoiled by the anime in its early days (before Arrancar arc), and especially recently I've hardly been able to tell whose sword went where.

CHARACTER: Everyone is the same. "I need to become stronger to protect my friends." Very little character development. There is some humor in the different personalities, though. Some.

ENJOYMENT: Well, this was my first anime/manga, so I can't be too harsh on it. I do admit that I was greatly fascinated by Bleach. It's an enthralling world, and the characters go through some crazy stuff. But it's drawn-out and repetitive towards the later chapters. Especially with the Quincy arc, the bad guys are just seemingly invincible. It's endless. But still interesting.
