This is one of the first Mangas I ever read. And I read it in only 3 days. It is also the only series that nearly made me cry which was because of the controversal ending.

Story: 9

In the first view chapters the manga begins pretty crazy but the longer you read the more depth it gets. The more light-hearted parts (club-activities) seem a little repetitive but always seem to add one new aspect. Those parts are really funny and you cant stop yourself from grinning. At the same time this manga is creepy because of how much power Kurumi has over Hideo. Later on you get to feel the relationship between those two and it turns into a real love story. The longer the story goes it all ends up to a mixture of feelings that you can't forget.

Art: 8

At first the art is really strange. You definitely haven't seen a manga like this before. The more sexual parts are darker and more detailed which emphasizes the feelings of the situation. Even though I first thought that the art is not good it grew on me after a while. It fits extremely well.

Character: 10

The really strong part of Sundome. Not only the main characters have character development, even a few of the supporting characters get a little side story. Hideo has no confidence at all at the beginning and just lives for the day without much fun. After he meets Kurumi he has a the goal to be with her which completely changes his attitude. He starts exercising and taking moe responsibility. There is so much difference between the beginning and the end that they could be two totally different persons. The same goes for Kurumi. The development of the supporting characters is kind of standard but still nice to see and a little bit touching.

Enjoyment: 10

I enjoyed Sundome immensely. As I said in the beginning I read it in 3 days. I just couldn't stop reading until the end. From a guy's point of view it's interesting that the fan-service involves the typical big-breasted schoolgirl (for the masses I guess) and Kurumi who is the exact opposite. I guess she is the dreamgirl of the author. I really liked that because it makes it more unique (not that Im into really small OR big breasts).

Overall: 10

It deserves the 10. I never read something like this and I doubt that I will ever read something like this again (except Ibitsu which is from the same author but not available in english). This is a piece that proves that you can have a manga with lots of fan-service and sexual content, while still having an unbelievably deep plot that can make you cry. If you are not grossed out by the rather uncommon sexual fantasies, you can fully enjoy this masterpiece. Maybe you even like it.

I also think that at least SOME of this is a true story. It is just to crazy and twisted to be complete fiction. It might be exaggerated but there is definitely some truth in this.
