Awairo Emaki review

I read this on a whim and wasn't expecting it to be this great, I now have 4 cavities from how sweet this was and I don't care.

The characters I immediately latched onto because of their (at first glance) contrasting personality and dynamic they share. The 'somber seemingly uncaring one x the bumbling kinda awkward one' is a favorite of mine and the mangaka executes it well. Their interactions always managed to warm my heart and compelled me to deeply care about them.

Their character designs and how they were drawn also stood out to me, especially Izumo. Speaking of the art style, it's adorable and gorgeous at the same time and I love it. I actually didn't know it was a manga at first and assumed it was manhua from the cover art, which I'll give as a compliment.

The story isn't groundbreaking or anything but it's simple and sweet, enough for a short one-shot. Though I do have to say, it felt cut short. When it hit the climax of the story, I was honestly surprised it came up so quickly. But it's only 5 chapters so what can you expect? Would have liked it longer but how it ended though sudden, was satisfying enough.

Overall, it was the sweetest read I've had in awhile and greatly recommend this manga is you like shounen ai.
