Subversive, hilarious, and underrated.
This manga is a parody of the hero story. If you read any of them, you know the premise and setting. You have a hero exploring the world and defeating the "villain" to save the world. However, at nearly every point, it undercuts the tropes and mocks expectations.
The main character is weak and nobody takes monsters or the legends seriously. The hero's companion is actually the "villain." The story questions the morality of the "hero story" while still being light-hearted and funny. Maybe some tropes are overdone like the prevent.
The series is completed but there is yet a translate that goes to the end. Probably because there isn't any fanfare for this series. I read to ch 26 and hope to read to the end.
Overall, I liked this manga and I think it's severely underrated.
