Anata ni Hana wo Sasagemashou review

A manga that I started thinking it would be just one more normal josei, but in the end it turned kindda interesting. Even if The ending was "bleeh", the story fulfilled its purpose: it took me to the last page by true interest.

The main couple is not that OMG I SHIP THEM SO HARD couple, but I really liked Seri. She's strong, determined and in someway, a kickass. She knows Aikido, has a strong personality and it makes you want to see her getting what she wants (and deserve). She's quite funny too, and that made me like her even more. Yuzuki, the guy, is just one more josei protagonist with that fish face. Fortunately he's not an asshole, but definitely not interesting. Nothing new under the sun.

The story tries to bring us three cliches models: the arranged marriage, the "childhood friends that are destined to each other" and the "oh I hated him so much but then I fell in love with him". But the third one has like 0 development. The author tries to put it in the protagonist thoughts when she talks about Yuzuki but it has no developed base. So we just ignore this part.

About the sex part, we have some scenes, and as always, they are practically the same. I hate how most of the Joseis focus only on the protagonist breasts. They don't show NOTHING else +18 than that. So if you are looking for some erotic inspiration, look for something else. This manga is not for you.

Okay so, what really took me to the very ending of this manga that really looks like just one more average josei? The story behind the curse. Since the beginning we have some ideas of what caused it. In this point we say "one more curse caused by an envious/betrayed woman spirit". But the story turns to be much more detailed than we expect. It takes waaay longer to the characters to make it out and get all the pieces together. And that really made me nervous because many times the curse itself frustrate their tries and destroys clues. And, as the curse grows stronger, you start worrying about ALL THE CHARACTERS because it starts to affect everybody who gets near Yuzuki. And the best part is that Seri becomes more stronger with that kickass atmosphere around her because she's the only one that can fight the curse (with a acceptable explanation in the end). So she would be the perfect princess with a sword in the white horse if it wasn't for the end.

If you are looking for a josei with an average romantic story, but with an interesting mystery story behind it, go for this one and you'll probably have a fun time (without big expectations of course)
