Lunar 2: Eternal Blue review

From the author of Pretear, this is a shojo manga retelling of Lunar 2 told from Lucia's perspective, which I thought was pretty neat. Unfortunately, it's extremely condensed and anything that didn't involve Hiro and Lucia's relationship were completely glossed over. Both Jean and Lemina's arc were only a page long flashback, Nall only appeared for a few panels, and most unforgivable, Ghaleon doesn't appear at all! Ghaleon just straight up does not exist in this adaptation. It sucks since Nall, Ghaleon, and Jean's arcs are probably my favorite parts of the game. It is far from a complete adaptation, but it's not all bad. Most of the iconic HiroxLucia moments are beautifully drawn, the manga finally explains what Lucia actually is is in relation to Althena, you get to see Ronfar and Mauri's daughter, and there's a great reference image of Lucia I used for my cosplay. Overall very lacking as an adaptation, but if Lucia is your favorite character, boy is this the manga for you.
