Kimi ni Nare review

This review comes only after reading the first volume, merely 5 chapters, but it's all that there is out so I'll do my best.

Story: I don't normally do these niche mangas about something very particular (such as cooking, glass blowing, or someone trying to be a star through music, like this one). I only decided to read it because of the author. I scored the story a 6, because it's not necessarily unique, but it's still a good premise and not COMPLETELY played out.

Art: Very good. I mean I know some of the art Ichigo Takano is seen to be sort of odd looking and not very traditional, but when you get used to it you really appreciate the small details placed into the art and it's very well done. I scored this an 8.

Character: At first I didn't like the characters. But I reminded myself who wrote this, and the author is really a great writer in terms of characters. I gave it a few chapters and liked where he went with the emotion and backgrounds to some characters. Its well paced, and it's setting up the reader to constantly want to learn more about the characters in the manga.

Overall, it's a 6. I'm not completely gripped by the series just yet, but I'm definitely going to read the 2nd volume (whenever that comes out) to see if the author continues to build the characters she's so well known to write.
