I write this review for people who have heard about how great this manga is, but are hesitant to start reading it. Let me fill you in. YOU ARE MISSING OUT. Most people by now have heard of what a great character Guts is, and they have also heard about what a great antagonist Griffith is as well. When I first started reading this manga I dropped it after the third chapter. I saw no sign of the over hyped Griffith and Guts was just a tough character who was very badass. However, a few months later I revisited this manga because I had nothing else to read. I read the first arc which was surprisingly better than I had hoped. Then, the story flashed to Guts backstory... This arc might have been one of the best written arcs in all of fiction. Even though you know somewhat how it will end, the way it is presented makes you super hype to read each chapter. Each character is very well made and the main characters interactions with each other make the story so much more enjoyable. This was so well done I can not explain i, just read it for yourself. I would highly recommend reading the first two arcs before dropping, if you don't like it then..... I have nothing to say to you. This story was one of the best have ever read! 10/10
