The only issue I have with berserk is that I'm not (overly) fond of the style.


Apparently I need a longer review. Berserk succeeds in literally every aspect; the story, characters, art direction, and just visceral emotion packed into the series is incredible. I read part of the black swordsman arc and was unimpressed. Then, weeks later, I picked up the golden age arc and from then on I've been hopelessly addicted. It's perfect. The comic just lives and breathes humanity. The story twists and turns, picking up some of the most interesting characters ever put to page and sticking them into a genuine protagonists' party. No move feels out of place, no line feels hastily written, it's all perfect and whatever. Just read the damn thing
