Beastars review

Initially, I started reading for the irony of it. "Zootopia the Manga? Psh, sounds dumb I think I'll read it." But after a year of reading and keeping up with it, my ironic enjoyment quickly became genuine. There's something very enthralling about the worldbuilding in Beastars, and how this fictional society could have so many details. It transcends Zootopia a hundred times and it's certainly more than just manga for furries. The problems the protagonists face are so specific to the Beastars world and yet it feels real, because many of those problems come from who they were born as. Because of something completely out of their control.

After a year of reading and keeping up, right up to its finale, I don't regret a thing. It exceeded my expectations and to anyone with the preconceived notion that this is a furry manga or a zootopia copy, read it ironically. Let it surprise you.
