Sasuga Tokoyama-sensei. Favorite of all time.

It starts out as a 10/10 chill read. I won't talk about that much since you can see it from the earlier reviews. But man, did you ever expect this to be such a rom-com killer? It manages to be a slice of life, romance, mystery, and drama in different chapters. Hell, it even has a shounen chapter.

Kotoyama really is exploring his ability to write in different types of genres, and it is amazing. He makes you love our main 2 characters in the beginning, and even the side characters are extremely likable despite the limited development given to them. I find it comparable to one-punch man, in how the side characters are lovable.

Personally, I feel extremely biased since I am literally the MC of this: same age and "fuck school and the people there, except a few people I like" mindset. I loved Oregairu and Hyouka for their relatable protagonists, but this hits a whole new level of self-projection. The whole reason I like anime is to fantasize about different lives in worlds that don't exist.

The story is fantastic; it reels you in with a slice of life/comedy/romance, but hits you with mystery, a sprinkle of shounen, and it has better world building that half the isekais out there rn. Art is superb, if you liked dagashi kashi at all, this delivers 10/10. Characters are all likable, much like OPM, enjoyment is out of the roof, and overall, you should read this.

I talked a lot about self projection in MC, but that only has to do with the enjoyment of this manga. The story, art, and characters already make this a must-read for anyone sick of isekai "i became blah in another world" and rom-com "my senpai is my sister who's a guy." I won't compare this to something like Berserk or HxH, because the premises and the whole thing in general are so different. But that is basically why this is my favorite manga.
