Yakusoku no Neverland review

This had great potential, but the story became very rushed, and every character besides Emma was thrown into the background, that is to say if she even had any development herself. The lore is (was) extremely interesting, yet the plot became weaker and weaker as the story went on, and Emma became more and more of a Mary Sue. Characters were introduced left and right, only to have maybe a few lines of dialogue for the rest of the entire manga.

Quite frankly the last chapters were a joke, and I like to pretend it was a fan-fic epilogue.
Towards the beginning and middle of this manga, there were all kinds of fan theories flying around, but the story just kept going the easy way out every single time - the progression became like playing a massive RPG like TESV and ignoring everything besides the main quest line.

This manga brandishes a spooky aesthetic, and death is constantly toyed with, but minor spoilers, nearly nobody dies. Maybe that's not the point, but don't let yourself be fooled.
