Yoru Wo Higashi Ni (East, Into The Night) is an interesting and unique manga. As people keep saying in the comments from Manga Plus(an official manga reading website/app by Shueisha), this manga had so much potential but it felt rushed, maybe it was.

I enjoyed reading it from start to finish. The concept of the story was unique and enjoyable. Setting out to find the 'Forgotten Morning'- this is an adventure calling but into the dark deep night. This instantly gave me 'Made In Abyss' vibes.
Art is 7/10 for me, plus it was fully coloured from start to finish. What a bonus from the creators. For others, it was not that impressive and was not appealing but hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! The art was never a problem to me.
Characters were uniquely drawn and quite cool to see. Their personalities are cool and were like everyday people you meet.
With this manga, you get to see divided tribes(even though it was not really focused on it), religious issues that could even get you debating in the comment section, problems with belief systems, and other more.

What led it to its fall was the end. I did not like that fact it ended so quickly. I would like to see more. Lots of readers complained and someone commented, they wonder if 'Shueisha ever gets to ask its readers if they want to buy and keep the manga going before it gets axed?' Others requested for next chapters since the ending was like a huge Cliffhanger which isn't the best. This shows some percentage readers had love for this manga but the potential we saw was wasted.


From what I remember from Manga Plus, the manga was said to be available in digital format so if you're looking forward to buy a paperback then you're not lucky. It is there on Manga Plus (by Shueisha) so lucky you.

Try it. You might like it. At first I was avoiding it but I got to like it after picking it up. I hope there will be a continuation whether in 5 or 10 years. This manga is too good to be left hanging like this. I want to see how they properly discover the Morning and what are the technologies they kept discussing about?
