Wolf Guy: Ookami no Monshou review

I have always been a fan of werewolves. When I saw the title Wolf Guy, I had this speculation that it was going to be really interesting and hoping it would have a lot of twists. I saw a picture of Akira Inugami in the front cover, which seemed to give off a mysterious vibe to it.

Story - 5

In the beginning it starts off very slow. The first few chapters, it has a lot of mystery and sort of keeps you intrigued on how many events are tied in. For example, you get this curiosity on where Inugami came from and also wants to know his origiin. Now the sad part is when he meets a very curious teacher. I don't know how many times this girl gets raped in the manga, but it just went off a different tangent. It actually diluted the main plot. His enemies motives are also based on insanity and power seeking monsters, where they just want to kill Inugami to prove themselves that they're on top of the food chain. One of the decent things about this manga was probably the action. They were really intense and it showed a lot of dynamic camera angles, blood and they put a lot of realism into it. As the story progresses around the middle to end, the whole story probably revolves around more sexual scenes and where Inugami is left with very few choices to make. It gets at least interesting on how with those choices that he had to make, his personality changes and makes the right decision for the sake of justice and only finds out he was in love.

Art - 10

One of the best I've seen. Loved the amount of dynamic lighting to enhance the backgrounds and characters. The details of every character is fabulous, especially the hair.

Character - 7

I thought of the majority of the characters in the manga were insane, barbaric and wild, just what you would expect from a seinen. When I mean wild, i mean being horny and wanted sexual pleasure. It's a shame that some characters needed a background story and how they tied in with Inugami, therefore it lacked substance. Overall, character's were good in general.

Enjoyment - 8
I must admit, I do like reading manga that has nudity, violence and lots of action, and this manga had that all. To me the action scenes were at least decent enough to cover up a mediocre story line. What can I say, everyone has their own tastes.

Overall - 7
It was okay. Not the best cake I've seen, but overall it was better than average. The art and action made up for the average story line. However, they could have used less sexual scenes and put more depth and substance in the characters to make the story more interesting.
