ZETTAI KARESHI review

Yo! This is my first manga review. You probably won't see too many of these because I've stopped reading manga a while back ago, and I won't buy or read any more from the Internet. If you see me add stuff to the manga list, it's of series I have read before that I have rediscovered.

Story: The story seems cliche: girl wants a boyfriend. However, getting a million dollar sex toy at your door is stranger than anything. The story is pretty clean cut. Riiko gets this mysterious doll who acts and looks like a man, and she wants to figure out whether she wants to get enough money in order to buy him or sending him away. At the same time, her friend wants to tell her that he loves her, but he doesn't have the balls to actually do it. For a few volumes, it's just a series of stupid shenanigans. Did I find it funny? Sometimes. Other times, I just skimmed through the pages. Is it bad? No. Just don't get too attached. I won't spoil how it ends, but I'm just warning you: don't get too attached. 8/10

Art: I don't usually judge manga art style quite well, but if there is one thing I will mention to you, it's this: fanservice, from what I remember, lasts for one volume (I don't remember chapters, forgive me), the first volume actually. For the rest of the series, Night has his clothes on, and it's just romantic nonsense. For manga art, I found it decent. Not anything groundbreaking, but this was written in what? The 2000's? It's good art, and I'll appreciate it for looking like on paper. 9/10

Characters: There are not many characters in this manga, and that's a good thing, so I can keep track of all of them. Hurrah! Our main character is Riiko, a girl who can't seem to get a boyfriend even if her life depended on it, how original! That is until one day she finds some interesting product called Love figures in an advertisement. Little does she know how much they cost after signing up for a "free trial." She ends up with a Nightly Lover, who she calls Night, and do I have to mention what he's supposed to do to the woman as a product? She is also living with her childhood friend named Soshi, who has been in love with her since but who doesn't have the balls to confess his feelings until Night shows up. Honestly, I preferred Night over Soshi because Soshi was a dick at times. In all honesty, I kinda didn't feel for the characters at all in this manga. They seemed like they didn't have feelings at all really. 7/10

Enjoyment: Enjoying this manga was a little hard even though I made it through. I guess because I was in my teens when I read this that it didn't appeal to me as much. The story was ok. The characters are...meh. The art is nice to look at though. Some funny moments here and there, but nothing groundbreaking. 8/10

Overall: If you guys want to read it, go ahead. It's not so bad. In fact, it's harmless. In short, the overall score of this would be ranked a perfect 8 out of 10.
