Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi review

Well, so far I have found the other reviews to be to extreme, which is what prompted me to write this review.

Is this manga good? Well, that depends on taste but regardless it shouldn't be getting anything less than a 5 nor anything more than an 8 regardless of an individual's taste. This is due to reviews containing at least a few objective parameters or else they become meaningless.

I'd like to start by saying that this isn't a think very hard manga. You're supposed to go with the flow of the story and enjoy it for it's sadistic revenge elements. This is what the manga set out to do and does rather well. If you can't do that, then this wasn't meant for you.

I'll address the complaints I saw:

The major complaints seem to stem from the Hero's healing power. As it is actually explained in the first 5 or so chapters, the hero's ability isn't so much to heal. What it does exactly is undo time, whilst letting the hero experience the injury he is undoing. Through the "experiencing" the hero gains access to the person's memories, which allows him to learn some of the skills of the person and learn their info. In turn this allows the hero's stats to get boosted. The author does take liberties with this but so do most manga authors with their power systems. Overall, I don't think the MC's powers are so hard to get your head wrapped around of.

The exchanging of fluids with the heroes leads to stat boosts and that applies to all the heroes but the MC gets raped the most because he is initially weak, which allows him to be abused, which leads to the revenge story. The other heroes are strong to begin with and in a way or other related to the royalty so they go under no risk of rape due to the consequences of doing so.

Story: 7
The story is a sadistic revenge fantasy. The MC who is classified as a hero healer has the power I stated above but in the original run he gets abducted and drugged to the point he is completely addicted, and loses his mind, by the princess hero of the Kingdom. What follows is four years in which he is raped, beaten, tortured, and treated worse than a beast by anyone who wants to. This leads to him wanting revenge not only against his main abusers: the princess hero and the other heroes but also against the entirety of the kingdom itself. At the end of those four years, in the final battle against the demon king he is able to squash his addiction and regain his mind. Through regaining control of his will and body, he understands the various abilities he has gained and how he can use his healing abilities in combat. This leads to him defeating the demon king and using his heart, which acts as a magic amplifier, to 'heal' the world and turn back time by four years. There he begins his revenge, starting with the princess, by torturing her, raping her, and then altering her memories to alter her personality and make her his willing slave. From then on he begins his plans to bring down the entire kingdom.

Art: 6
The art is pretty bland. The details and artistic emphasis are left to the scenes which belong in a doujin. However, overall the art isn't bad, just not particularly detailed. As such it is clear and it is easy to follow the plot and fight scenes.

Characters: 7
The author allows you to see the transformation of the MC as a do-gooder village orphan to a man guided solely by sadistic revenge. He wants to see the world burn and whilst he won't hurt innocents for no reason he takes their deaths as further motivation for his revenge. The rest of the characters, well they redefine evil. Only when they meet someone even worse can you see their redeeming qualities as some of them have limits to their evil actions whilst others do not. Then there are the characters that the MC recruits in his revenge plan and whilst they constitute a typical harem, that is not their first role. Their first role is as useful companions needed for the MC to get his revenge.

Enjoyment: 8
You either laugh at how fucked up the plot and characters are or you revel in the revenge fantasy or a bit of both. Regardless, highly entertaining. The protagonist is dark gray morally and those are my favorite types as I see them the most human and natural.

Overall: 7
