Personally, Gakuen Alice was one of the first Mangas' that I've read. It's very different from any other Shoujo Mangas. Why? The love in this story is different from any other I've read. The emotions are very light but later on dwell deeper and deeper. I'm not just talking about love here. I'm talking about Mikan's (the main female character) feelings for her friends and family.

The story is even better. There's not witches or Harry Potter magic really in this story. Everything is centered around 'Alices' which are the special power that each student at the Academy holds. There are different Alice forms as well. (Might be a Spoiler: Some people with the fourth alice form can die from using their power too much.) I loved that little twist with the Alice forms.

The characters are very well done. Each is different, none of them except Mikan were a cliche. Everyone was different in this story from other mangas.

If you love anything that has to do with powers, great comedy or a very well done love story than read Gakuen Alice. I promise you that you will love it. Even if it seems a bit childish at first...keep on reading. It's truly a wonderful story.
