This manga is super average, and I don't mean that in a bad way. To avoid spoilers since this is such a short series I don't think this will be an all too long review.

Densetsu No Yuusha No Konatsu is basically a series of oneshots of dates between the Main Character, and various women. Despite that, it's not some trashy harem that over saturates the Anime/Manga industry. It's fairly innocent and aside from one or two pairings nothing really sticks out or evokes much emotion. That said, I'm a rather cold person most of the time. To most readers I think they'll find this more than satisfactory.

The characters are pretty flat for the most of the series. The Main Character goes through little to no development due to the series being so short, and isn't particularly deep or interesting. He is not unlike a child raised in lab with no social interactions. Two of the women he meets however go through great changes in their time and are in my opinion much better for it, and much more interesting characters than the protagonist.

The ending is rushed, and the manga was clearly axed, and honestly I'm not surprised. This series didn't do much to keep itself afloat. I will say though, compared to some manga out there, it is far more deserving of continuation. If you were to ask me if I wanted 200 chapters of Nisekoi or Sousei No Omnyouji or this, I'd pick this every time. As at least this protagonist while generic and somewhat idiotic is much more well done than the protagonists of the series I randomly picked. Also the women he meets often end up better for it, as they often begin somewhat bitchy, which is nice.

All in all, besides my personal gripe which I'll leave after the review I can't say this was anything special, and before some dimwit gets mad at me for rating this series a 5, I go by MAL's ratings and a 5 is equated to average. Since some people need this spelled out even further. Average means something is common in a set of data. Or this manga is similar to most manga of it's genre. No that does not mean I hate it. No that does not mean it's bad, it's just not special or particularly standout like some.

SPOILER - Personal Gripe
As for my personal gripe, I'm just pissed off the best girl which actually treated him well got fucked and married off to some off screen character because plot. I highly doubt anyone would have a problem with the guy who saved the world marrying a princess with whom he has a mutual attraction. And even if they did. Who the hell would stop them. Also, I'd argue she's the best match for him and would help him grow most as a person.

When you look at the cover by the synopsis, and synopsis itself, you might think that it's a dating manga with monster girls, or at least heavily set in fantasy.
It's not. It's not a harem, either.

SPOILERS AHEAD
or more accurately, the way the plot is bulit is written below.

It's an episodic, every-week-a-new-villain type story, with the plot mold being: hero wants to someone to love him for being himself, not a hero, so he anonymously goes on blind dates-> HA ha he has a weird fashion sense, and comes to date in a corncob costume, that's actually made from carcass of the halloween king [lvl 13445346234], but his date just thinks it's weird -> he's expressionless and can't converse, awkward date continues-> some or other bad thing happens to the girl that decided to reject that weird dude they didn't know was the hero -> the hero heroes shit up and saves the girl -> the girl agonizes that she rejected that weird dude, because actually he's the great hero -> hero goes on his way to catfish another girl ->[BIG SPOILER] and then goes out with his own sister as the final choice[end spoiler]

SUMMARY
This manga stinks of being written by someone for someone who can't cope with being rejected because they were unable to present themselves well enough on the first date. It tries so hard to show that girls choose partners only based on merit (including social skills, fedora tip to author), and not on the "personality" (concept of which is never really explained).

All said and done, if you don't think about what emotions the author had to harbor while writing this story, it's an enjoyable way to spend 2 hours of so reading it while beating your meat to how much noble and non-merit oriented men are, unlike women. solid 6/10, with emphasis on 6 being pretty good.

tl;dr: An interesting concept implemented pretty well though a bit messy in the beginning and end.

This manga has a pretty unique premise and uses it pretty well. It starts off a bit slowly, wherein the chapters mostly repeat a per chapter loop of him interacting with women in a strange way due to his background as a hero, resulting in them not liking him, but then him impressing them with something related to him being a hero, but moving on because then it would be impossible for them to like him for him. This is pretty amusing considering how repetitive each instance was, but didn’t have any depth at all to it. The structure changes tremendously about a third of the way through however, wherein it begins having much longer stories. These stories rather than having mostly one dimensional heroines develop the heroines and a few side characters really well, wherein their motivations and lives are fleshed out very well. Naturally, this also results in the relationship between the hero and heroine feeling much more real, as well as the hero himself feeling much more fleshed out as well and also going through some solid character development, and wherein before he just seemed like a quirky guy you’re kind of rooting for, here he actually begins to feel like a genuinely good guy you’re wishing the best for. The humor from before is still present here and there are a lot of amusing moments, but beyond that these stories are well written, with emotions coming across very well and key moments having a lot of impact, with each story having both strong happy and sad moments. The final arc was sort of messy in that it seemed to be trying too hard to be more than the stories that came before it as a story worthy of being the final one, but largely I think it did a pretty good job and I was very satisfied with the ending. The art was pretty good and I think the framing of key emotional moments was especially really good.
