The plot centers around a Grail War faultily copied from the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki. After the end of the third Grail War, an organization from the United States that has magi separate from the London-based Mage Association as members took data from Fuyuki's Grail War and planned their own ritual. After seventy years, they used the city Snowfield as the Sacred Land for their own Grail War. They were unable to successfully copy every aspect of the ritual, which lead to it acting only as an imitation that has lost the Saber class and allowed for the summoning of strange Servants due to the definition of a "hero" being blurred.

Guess I ll have to take the Honor then.

Did you watch Durarara? Baccano? This is from the same creator
if Yes then you are already familiarized with the author's writting style.
as the name says 'STRANGE' literally means it because this is kinda a nonsense holy grail war in the United States.
Set in the 'SnowField' city that for gods sake is New York, there is even the Central Park.
What amuses me in F/SF is the ammount of political schemes and intrigues involving even outsiders going all the way to the city mayor.
And the incredible characters.. Like just to summon the servants the manga takes more than 400 pages (1 volume almost)
Because they develop every character and make sure you understand what is actually happening
without getting boring I just couldnt stop reading until I saw the end.
If you are familiar with the characters and servants (most of them are actually on fate go) so playing fate go is a plus to reading this series.
Overall Story-wise score : 10

Now I ll talk a little about the art. The character designs are just perfect for me, a balance of cuteness and seriousness .
The way the images are presented are a little bit confusing but if you pay enough attention you should be fine.
Overall for art it would be a 8 if I was an actual critic but since I'm presenting my personal opinions here its a 10.

Also, Another aspect of F/SF that I find extremely interesting is that I can't actually tell who are the acutal protagonists
since everybody got +- the same ammount of time.

Peculiarities :
You have Gilgamesh paired up with a loli, playing poker calling ppl mongrels and drinking all the wine of the planet.
Enkidu paired up with a fucking PIG ! (his master is a P I G (oh sorry they like to call it 'chimera'))
Richard I and miss Depression (Saijou Ayaka)
Rebelling servants (No-name-Assasin)
one of Jannu's Afficionates in loli skin ( Francesca ) and another version of her but with a dick (one is the servant and the other is tha master, much like NR and ALICE)
MILF Jack the Ripper.
The police of new york(Snowfield city -.-'') are equipped with noble phantasms.
and much more.

Another reason to make this good is that this is the fate that overrides Apocrypha!
In apoc Amakusa Shirou Tokisada waits like 70 years to begin another war...
In F/SF its the loli François who waits the same 70 years to begin another war
the stories of apoc and strange fake are set in the same period but apocrypha is a very very weak entry in the fate franchise
so forgetting it and diving into Strange Fake is much better.

If you're a Fate fan this is a MUST READ.

Story : 9
The story is similar to Fate:Apocrypha; however, completely different at the same time. The plot is extremely interesting in which you have two separate Holy Grail wars going on at the same time, the Fake American one and the Real Holy Grail executed by the Mage Association. With the blurred guidelines of the Fake HG, extremely interesting spirits are summoned with even more interesting powers. Overall, the idea behind the story is a breath of fresh air compared to the other Fate series, and the story has a stable and interesting plot that will instantly draw you in.

Art : 8
While it's not One Punch Man good, the art is fantastic still. The Scenery and character design is well done, and the art adds to the story perfectly.

Character : 10
At this point in the story, it's hard to tell who the true protagonist is. However, this doesn't really matter as you have a huge cast of characters to choose from. Most of the participants and servants in this war have interesting personalities and goals, and while a few of them are a bit lackluster, I found the large cast of complex characters to be extremely pleasing. It's almost like the author leaves the reader to choose their own favorite and to see if they win at the end of the story.

Enjoyment : 9
Diving into the Fate universe this story provides is extremely enjoyable. The complex backgrounds and small connections are always pleasing to make.

Overall : 9
If you enjoyed the other Fate/ Adaptations their is no way you won't enjoy this one. With an interesting cast of characters and unique storyline this manga is definitely one of the best I've read in awhile.

[No spoilers review]

While reading the first volume (the 2009 version) I found myself enjoying it, quite a lot.
The first time I read about this Strange Fake novel, it did not wake any interest in me, I mean, I did not find even the title very appealing at the moment, but I am glad that I did read it now because it is just a fantastic piece to read. I found myself wanting to read more, chapter after chapter, really interesting. I fell in love with it.

It’s to be noted that you should watch or read Fate/Zero or Heaven’s Feel before reading Strange Fake, not only to avoid spoilers but to understand better the concepts and catch all the references (there are references to Fate/Zero, FSN, and Fate/Apocrypha, among the ones I could catch)

I was hyped to read this because of Gilgamesh, I wanted to “see” him in action once again, and when he appeared it was awesome. I’m impatient to see how he develops in this Fake Holy Grail War.

There are moments of fun, suspense, drama, action, all of them mixed but at the same time very distinguishable throughout the chapters. A great amount of this war’s servants are really bizarre, and “strange”. They differ a lot from what we have previously seen in other wars. That itself is amazing, it gives this particular story a different feeling, a different setting, a different soul and that’s amazing. There were many moments when I thought to myself “hey, this novel is really living up to its ‘strange fake’ title… awesome”

To the current date, this became more than an April’s Fool joke, or a fake prologue to a “game” (I’m glad it did not become a game, I hate those stories in where YOU are the main character…that’s why I prefer LN, manga and anime over games/VN). In any case, the translation of the LN volumes is very slow (Currently 2 volumes are published, and I think not even the first volume is translated) and the manga seems to be translated further but not by that much compared to the novel.

Anyway, this was a GOOD read.

Story: 8
I enjoyed reading, I gave it complete attention, it entertained me, kept me wondering what was about to happen, and made me pass page after page. It looks like a dark story like Fate/Zero in terms of how dense the plot is, and those a great news!

Art: 8
Each art used was beautiful, I can't complain.

Character: 8
Both Servants and Masters seem to be very interesting. You have to read to understand, but I know they all have great stories, and hell, you will may even spot familiar faces.

Overall: 9
I enjoyed this so much, again, I'm glad this did not end as a joke, and by the time I'm writing this, it became a full real story being published in Light Novel format and Manga format. The problem is the translation jaja.

As a person who just recently got into Fate series, I never thought I'd ever dig up this little gem--and fall in love with it no less.

I'm sure most are aware already but in case you aren't, Fate Strange Fake *as of now* is only a prologue that will soon be adapted into another Light Novel and into a Manga--so take that into account as I review this.

----
Story 8/10- Very Good

What the story has is great potential. It's one of those that could either be really great or fall flat.

Art 9/10- Great

The art was good to me, now I'm no artist. The character designs all seem very good. No complaints from me. So why not?

Characters 8/10- Very Good

The characters also have very high potential. Some old characters make an appearance, which is nice. I like that the new characters are unique--most have a small quirk or two that makes them seem like a worthy opponent for the False Holy Grail War. There's just something strange about the characters that attracts me to them.

Enjoyment 10/10- Outstanding

I did not expect this, at all. I thought I'd be indifferent to it but I'm very excited for its story. There is just so much potential, there are just so many things to grip you to it. I really like it because takes things that you may have gotten used to from the likes of Fate Zero, or Fate Stay Night and just twists them in such a way that where they grip your attention. There are so many mysteries, and so much wonder to it--needless to say, I was captivated by it.

There are also a *few* lighthearted throwbacks to Fate Zero that I enjoyed--of course complete with its own twist.

The chapters are varied. Some are suspenseful, others I got a good laugh at. Either way it had my full enjoyment.

I'll end it with: For something that is only a prologue thus far, *and* was originally made for an April Fool's Joke I was very impressed, and am very happy that it will be continued!
