Futari Ecchi

This manga is actually very educational about sex. I like the plot and the characters for the most part (even though the main guy character can be an a-hole a lot of the time) But for someone like me who was never taught much about sex or how the body develops throughout puberty, I was able to learn just about everything through this manga. One thing that I find kind of ridiculous is that they show just about every part of the woman's body, but when it came to the guy's d*ck, it was replaced with a banana....I don't know, maybe that's just supposed to be funny or something lol :) But all in all, I really loved this manga and can't wait for the completion!! :)

This Manga is truly a Masterpiece , not because it is perverted but because it is educational , has a very good plot , Very good Romance , and lovable characters.

I really love how the Main characters solves their problems together , how they act like children when they are fighting, how the MC always restrains himself from the seductions of other girls , and their relationship with their families and friends.

My ratings for this!
Story: 10 - the story is just perfect , I really love the romance part
Art : 9 - because it's a little bit old but still great!
Characters : 10 - Loveable characters, the only one I didn't like is Makie , because she always try to seduce Makoto >:(
Enjoyment : 10! - I always smiled whenever I finished a chapter!
Overall : 10 - because it deserves it and it's very educational!

I hope to see more mangas/anime like this one with or without the sex scenes over all I'll give it a 10/10 !

i'm going to start the review by saying futari ecchi is basically a sex book .

it basically a story about newly weds who got married when they are still virgins and takes us on a journey (with no plot at all) to over come every type of sexual problems that one may find in real life

its a nice blend of ecchi and mature view .and sometime the scenes are really cute nad funny .

its well written in terms of being informative about sex-and gives detailed description .


GOOD POINTS------------------

1.ZERO 0 PLOT , there is no plot ..its just about overcoming day to day sexual problems ..
2.you preety much know whats going to happen
3.doesn't have a ending and there never will be one not after 6 years anyway.
4.introduces you to sex ...if you know the basic stuff its going to be boring sometimes
5.the main character is always the same. they have the same poker face.. the guy is is a kind-hearted-sex-hungry
the wife is just shy and emotional

my OPINION

its worth reading . even though it has no plot each chapter has its own special ecchi moments in it and its funny .
example
(*spoiler* when yura-san curiously watches porn and mastrubats to see how it feels like (thinking no one will see), Makoto catches her in the act and teases her..and she tires to defend why she did it while shes embarrassed ..but Makoto pushes it till she wines and end up having sex ..XD ECT..)

The first thing that must be said is that the author indicates on the first page "This is not a hentai manga, rather an erotic manga for the thinking mind. It is a compass of love and sex, a reference dedicated to all the readers who seek the ultimate pleasure in life. This is for real I am not lying..." This is important to indicate because if one were to just skim through a couple of pages they might assume otherwise.

That being said Futari Ecchi can be called a love bible, a how to guide for dummies, or Manga Sutra. That's not to say that it is purely about sex. Futari Ecchi in essence, is a psychological, sociological, scientific, and medical, examination of human relationships and the ways in which sexual interactions plays a role in said relationships.

For those of you reading this thinking that you are already a sex expert; I guarantee that you will learn something from this manga, regardless of your degree of sexual experience.

The story is definitely one of the strong points that makes the whole thing work. It's about a man and a woman who meet through an omiai (match making session) and fall in love. The catch here is that they are both virgins, but are too shy to tell each other at first. The entire story is presented in the form of a romantic comedy which keeps the story lighthearted and enjoyable. Once they tell each other that they both have never had sex before, they decide that they will learn about sex together. What makes this so extraordinary is that it gives the reader an opportunity to learn more about relationships and sex as the characters do.

The psychological effects relationships have on individuals is thoroughly examined. The repercussions of adultery are explored (don't worry the main characters never commit adultery). The reasons for sexual fantasies in men, symbolism in dreams, and the reasons why women tend to prefer to have a certain level of intimacy before sex are all looked at from varying perspectives.

By sociological I mean, graphs, charts, figures, and statistics are habitually given to inform the reader about the differing ways in which men and women view relationships. These statistics are made to fit into the current situation the characters are facing. These range from what men and women think is necessary in a successful marriage to preferred sex positions. What makes these statistical studies even more interesting is that the author actually cites his sources in the manga. Of course since the manga began in 1997, you have to take some of the data with a grain of salt as it may no longer apply. Also about 90% of the statistical data applies only to Japanese people as they made up the groups who were surveyed. The remaining 10% is data acquired from surveys of Americans which makes for an interesting read as the Japanese data is contrasted to the American data.

Now scientific and medical might sound strange, but it is true in more ways than one. The author goes in depth in informing the reader about the differences in morphologies of sex organs for different individuals, and the advantages and disadvantages these differing morphologies have on sex. The hormones of men and women are also discussed and their effects on both sexes are also a reoccurring topic.

Thus far I have neglected to mention that there are numerous sex scenes in Futari Ecchi, though nothing immediately below the waste is shown (at most you will see a banana, literally). These scenes serve two main purposes in the manga. 1) To show the love, affection, and intimacy between our protagonists (which actually comes off as very sweet and innocent). 2) To inform the reader about sexual positions and convenient ways to transition between these position (which for some, might come in handy).

It is important to note that about 70% of Futari Ecchi is advice for men about women, which is probably why there is another version called Futari Ecchi for ladies.

All in all, the balance of lighthearted story telling plus the enlightening information about relationships makes Futari Ecchi one of the most unique mangas ever written. Most adults would definitely enjoy reading this manga.

Saying that this is hentai is like saying any movie with sex or boobs in it is porn. It astonishes me how prude people are in this day and age. This is why there needs to be more proper and realistic sexual education, and not only about the risks but mainly about how sex normally is conducted, men and women don't know anything about each others mind and body and when a man is expected to know exactly what to do he will take reference to the only sexual experience he has... porn. This is why the author (of the manga) created this series and this is why it is highly needed. Of course the manga can be arousing, and you shouldn't feel any shame for that. Because that is what happens when you develop on a sexual level. Sex is a very important part of life and there should be no shame for it, especially when you want to learn to understand and enjoy your own and your (future) partner sexuality.

I have read the manga with a female friend (we never had sex or were in any relationship other than very close friends before or after) when we were younger, we took notes and talked about it and learned a lot which I was grateful, because when I got in a relationship with my girlfriend, my gf and I were still virgins but we both actually enjoyed the first time we had sex and after several years our sex life and love for each other has only deepened and improved. I'm life long grateful to the manga and I have recommended to a lot of people I know.

PLOT: -

Futari Ecchi is undoubtedly the most informative and educating manga out there. However the information provided is on ‘sex’. The story revolves around the sexual life of a married couple. Lives of their friends, co-workers, family members and neighbors are also covered time to time.

Because of the extra focus on sexual aspects, this manga gets blames like ‘a series that only revolves around the bed’, ‘series with zero plot development’ etc. These acquisitions are quite wrong.

Despite being quite slow, there is quite decent plot development in this series. And we also see that the sexual aspect of life is just not only about ‘the main thing’ but the things like problems and hindrances in sex life, marriage v/s single relationships, multiple sex partners, pregnancy etc are also important part of a sex life.

We also see other aspects for a married life time to time in this manga.

CHARACTERS: -

The cast of this series is nothing short of fabulous. You’ll find good for nothing bastards who got lucky and landed hot partners, honest and caring wives, sexually depressed middle age people, teens whoring around, and office ladies trying their best to ruin the relationship of others. The lead couple is great and adorable. Their sync and progress as a couple is something great to see.

ART: -

The overall art of this magna is really good. The character sketches are beautiful but the main this is the ‘main thing’.

The sex scenes are drawn really magnificently. And the inclusion of information panels during the scenes makes it great. The reader gets the feeling that he’s reading a educating manga and not a plain borderline hentai with lots of sex.

CONTENT: -

Futari Ecchi is full of facts, figures, information, stats and tips regarding sexual stuff. Since this series has been running over a decade, many of these stats are outdated but it still goes to show the fact that lot of effort has been put in this series and this is a manual not a perverted series.

TARGET AUDIENCE: -

There’s a misconception about this series that it is for fans of ecchi and perverted stuff. I believe every manga fan that is 18 and above, should read this series.

TIPS: -

* Don’t read it in front of others (lol)
* Don’t look at the scenes only, pay the attention to the stats as well. :P

Futari ecchi is what youd give to a horrific pervert if you them to learn about ANYTHING. Instead of sex facts they could have inserted ways to solve calculus equations and you would come away from this book a mathmatician.
Ayway what i mean to say is that, not only is this an ecchi manga, its the ecchi to end all ecchi. But at the same time you're learning some very in depth sex education. I learn things i never knew, like statistics about first time across the globe or the average penis shape. Thats why I rated the story so high..because its also a textbook..just in a sexier to read format :]

The first time i read this manga was about 7 years ago, this is the first ecchi manga that i've read. Well, I didnt know that this is an ecchi~ i thought this was a hentai~ yeah yeah ive seen this together with some bunch of hentai mangas back then~ and the author said that this is not a hentai, its just an erotic one (laughs)

Story:
This is about the love-comedy story of two newly wed couple Makoto and Yura-san. The Author, using them as a sample together with the different people and couple they encounter, discuss about the basic problem of both man and women when it comes to relationship and sex. Using statistics and surveys for the story is a great idea, i'll give him a two thumbs up. With the help of Makoto's big brother Akira and Yura's little sister, they overcome every sex problem that they encounter. To tell you the truth, this manga is very educational when it comes to sex practices, its a good source for relationship tips, do's and don't, diferrent kind of position etc...

I like how the relationship of the newly wed couple the strenghten and progresses. If theres a story I didnt like on this manga its about Jun-chan the Little sister of Makoto. She was intruduced as a kind, sweet and shy girl. But the Author use her as a test subject about different kind of relationship using the excuse "search for true love", it makes me mad when he does that. (calm down, calm down)alright, alright thats her role gotta accept it T_T.


Art:
Man~ i have no eye when it comes to art and specially when its about manga. Well, as long as there's no deformed face or such its passable~ :D Good thing that the male prontagonist is an average person, with normal looks, its not that hard to draw~ The hard one must be Yura-san, Man~ isnt she lovely with an almost perfect figure! :D

Character:
Onota Makoto, an average looking salaryman of an international Business Corporation. One who always think of sex when alone with his wife, somewhat childish and sometimes selfish but he loves Yura-san with all of his heart. His wife Onota Yura, a full-time housewife, beautiful, kind and a shy-type. She always give and do whatever Mokoto wants (that bastard). Onota Akira, Makoto's big brother and a lawyer. For some reason he always appear near Makoto when he has some sex problem and his brother will teach him gladly, in short a sex expert. Kawada Rika, Yura's little sister and a college student. She's a sex expert as well, with the experience she get from different kind of man, she gives tips and advice to her big sister. Onota Jun, Makoto's little sister, all i can say is "curiosity killed the cat"

Enjoyment:
I wonder who will not enjoy reading this manga~ enjoyment to the MAX!! Seriously, its a great manga for those who are curious of what's sex is. A must read for those who have a little experience or just starting a relationship~ for both man and women~

I first found out about Futari Ecchi on the internet whilst looking for some manga to read up on and i thought the idea behind was very intriguing and real to life which has always been popular to be in real life.
the story revolves around a newly married, inexperienced, virginal couple called Makoto and Yura who are determined to make sure their experiences together can only get better as the days go by. Meanwhile their friends & families will have something to say and plenty of advice to give to them.
one of the key points i will bring up is that the manga is rated mature because of its sexual contents and graphic wording at times but surprisingly the whole things works extremely well and even a very sensitive person will have a hard time being totally offended by what happens in this manga series.
I am sure you are all assuming that this is more a Hentai Manga than anything else but you will be surprised to hear that its much more than that...you shouldnt see this as a Hentai but more like the Erotic soap dramas you see on TV after 9 or 10 at night.
The only major drawback i can see to this amazing series is its new name in the shops...MANGA SUTRA. I mean its kinda embarassing asking at a shop if they got anything called sutra in the first place and i personally think Futari Ecchi was a ok title to begin with but don't let that name deter you from this quite awesome book
