GIRLS GO AROUND

I've always been a big fan of supernatural stories as they really intrigue me. Mostly for that reason, I decided to give Girls Go Around a read since I thought the plot was kinda interesting. Now, while Girls Go Around isn't entirely a compelling read, it does have some decent aspects which make reading it kinda worthwhile.


Story (6)

Kyousuke Sayama, a typical highschool student, he has become really bored for living a rather boring and uneventful life. That is, until one day he realizes that he and one of his female classmates named Tomoka Shiina have suddenly gotten stuck in a time loop. They later figure out that the cause of these time loops is Tomoka's regret about not doing a certain thing and the loop won't stop until she has come to terms with her regret. After solving Tomoka's issue, Kyousuke finds he and some of his other female classmates have become involved with this loop again.

Girls Go Around follows Kyousuke helping the girls in overcoming in their overcoming their regrets to prevent the occurrences of time loops.

The plot of Girls Go Around is not very original. It isn't really compelling for the most part either. While watching the protagonist learn all the characters' regret to prevent the time loops was sort of entertaining at first, it became boring very quickly. However, the ending is where the story becomes kinda interesting in my opinion.

The manga concludes the story in a pretty unorthodox way. It seemed somewhat quirky and light hearted in the beginning, but the ending unexpectedly took a dark turn, which I liked to be honest. I won't spoil what happened at the end, but I think it's easily the best part of the entire manga. There are still a few issues with how it is handled, though.


Art (7)

There isn't much to comment on the art. It isn't very unique or eye-catchingly beautiful, but it is pretty decent. Some of the chapters have colored pages. They are very few in numbers, though.


Characters (6)

The characters of Girls Go Around aren't that interesting or unique. The protagonist, Kyousuke, is a pretty ordinary character with no unique traits. The female characters also don't have any interesting characteristics. In short, they are all pretty generic. Their conversations aren't quite entertaining to read either.

Though, the one thing I liked about the characters is that they all have some kind of regrets for things that they couldn't do in the past, which I find pretty relatable. The author decently portrayed the reasons behind their regrets and how they overcame these regrets after they were given a second chance. It helped me sympathize with the characters.


Enjoyment (6)

I somewhat enjoyed my time reading Girls Go Around. While there were quite a few noticeable flaws of the manga mostly for its short length, it wasn't that bad a read overall.

The final verdict is, Girls Go Around is fine. The manga did a somewhat decent job at entertaining me. If it had a few more chapters, some of the aforementioned issues could've been fixed which would've helped the manga become more entertaining to read.

If you are a fan of supernatural stories, I would recommend reading Girls Go Around to you. Since it contains only 10 chapters, it would be a short read as well (Although the first chapter is more than 70 pages long). It's not remarkable, but you still might find it enjoyable.
