Gaitou Alice

Ah yes, Gaitou Alice. Lost potential? Perhaps.

This manga started off great. Interesting setting, promising and quirky characcters, pretty art and a dorky snese of humor which I adore in general. I wish to not spoil anything, but the story basically goes like this.

Hikaru, a highschooler is a Gaitou. A Gaitou is someone with the powers to enter dreams and drive away evil in the form of rabbits. Join him in his adventures to become the hakoge! Actually no. This story is actually pretty dark. From the twisted sense of entertainment the demons that drive the plot into actions, to the death of MC's mom (seems cliche, it is) this manga had so much potential. That is, untill the author axed it and ended it at chapter sixteen. Thanks, dude.

This manga is not exactly the type I go for, due to the art style used. In comparison to ones that I’ve read before, this art style is much more cleaner, and easy to understand. But I like the fact that, in a way it gives a twist on the original Alice in Wonderland series, with a male character, that acts like “a fairy godmother” instead he’s known as a gaitou, as he tries to comfort those who need it. It does in fact keep to a similar concept like the original story, but it gives a unique twist on it. With the aspect of Alice in a “male body” trying to save people from nightmares, by actually entering the dream. The one thing that I have to say that shocked me, was when the Queen was revealed. It was defiantly not something I expected. Overall, the art style was great, and I really enjoyed the twisted storyline, and would recommend for anyone who is a fan of Alice in Wonderland to read it.
