SUZUKI Matsuri is riding the train to school one morning when she feels the unpleasant slide of a stranger’s fingers on her rear. Not one to be bashful, Matsuri turns and decks the guy behind her, yelling at him and accusing him of being a pervert. Unfortunately for Matsuri, she hits the wrong guy! Her victim is a young man named SUMERAGAWA Omi. He is rich. I mean…. REALLY rich. Ridiculously rich. He chose to ride the train that morning after one of his cars had engine trouble and he didn’t want to bother waiting for another car to be brought around. Of course it wasn’t Omi who had his hand on Matsuri’s behind, and when she realizes this, she apologizes profusely. Omi is not the type to let her off that easily, however. He decides that he likes Matsuri’s outgoing personality and sass, and he wants her… for his bride!

Hoshigari Love Dollar review
I picked this one, based on the recommendations with other series that I have enjoyed. I dropped it after three chapters.
It isn't that it is *bad* as such. It just doesn't have a lot going for it. The story line itself is cliche (which doesn't bother me in the slightest!), but it just has no *oomph* behind it - a young billionaire falls in love with the feisty heroine. the biggest problem was the characters - weak. I am sure that they may have improved, but everything was so incredibly surface. They didn't engage me at all, and I didn't care where it was going. The art didn't help. I didn't check when this was written, but it has the feel of an 80s/early 90s type. The faces are similar to those in the Irrepressible Captain Tyler anime, for those familiar with it. This isn't a bad thing, but it certainly isn't special. Whilst I find this art not immediately appealing, if l like a story, then it doesn't stop me reading. There is nothing fundamentally wrong here, but there is nothing exciting either. On the whole, I would say find something funner to read, if it is light romantic comedy you are after. |
