Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri

INITIAL THOUGHTS: This is a gag series - not a detective series!

As a fan of the author's Hitman Reborn series, I was very excited to see that she has started a new series as I wasn't a fan of elDLIVE, yet alone a detective series (my favourite genre).

Needless to say, after reading the first few chapters, I can now confirm that this is a GAG series in a detective setting. It is written like a typical detective series in which a police investigator and a smart detective team-up to solve crimes with clues and stuff. The mysteries aren't that intricate or interesting, and the solutions are relatively simple.

What holds this series up is the gags and the characters. The character "quirks" are distinctive and make for some funny interactions. Very much like the early days of Reborn where the characters were so ridiculous. However, the comedy is written much better as I feel like it's more natural for the plotline and not just creating random comedic scenes.

It's fun read if you have some spare time and want a little laugh not to immerse yourself in deep plot.

COMMENTS from Readers on Manga Plus- an Official reading website/app by Shueisha: readers were joyous to see one of their favourite manga creators back with a new series. Some saw a potential in it. Comments of excitement were all over the first chapter's section.
However there were a few unexcited readers/fans. Maybe the genre wasn't to their liking or the story did not seem exciting. For whatever reason, they did not really state.

May Contain SPOILERS. Here's my thoughts so far:
STORY- the story is good so far. I am really enjoying it. I am not much of a detective genre fan but I got to say Sensei is really treating us good with a story like this. I have never come across such a unique plot.
I sometimes drop detective series and never picked them up. However, The Deranged Detective is too good to be dropped. I have watched the anime Kabukicho Sherlock which is good. These two are similar but yet different. Both Sherlock and Ron do not work for the police, although Ron has a connection to them. The police do not know though. I like it this way; a freelance detective who does a way better job than a police detective. Well, Ron was supposed to be a police detective but stuffs happened. Go find out the rest yourself.
Kamonohashi Ron has the opposite story of the manga 'i tell c' also available on Manga Plus and the Japanese TV comedy series 'Unubore Deka' (Detective Lovesick). In Unubore Deka and i tell c, the MCs tend to fall in love with the criminals. Unlike those two, Ron condemns the criminals if they have committed murder. The criminals willingly obey- readers from Manga Plus are quickly reminded of Lelouch's geass (Code Geass). This is what attracted me more to the story and I want to know more about his ability. I would like to know what is going.
Plus the manga is hilarious to read. I love the comedy that goes on whilst they work as detectives.

ART- it's amazing! You can notice sensei improved so much. You can still see the similarities from her other manga series like Reborn in the new series. Readers were quick to notice that. This makes it sound like a good series to read. I was super impressed with the improvement.

CHARACTER- Ron is such an interesting character, full of humour and at the same time has a cool presence. He is attractive and highly intelligent. He seems to have an ability which is still a mystery. One reader simply described him as 'Lelouch 2.0'. I give this character 9/10, I love this type. His work partner Totomaru-san is pure-hearted, lovable, quite a cute guy and prioritizes friendships. I like this type too 8/10.
Everyone else is amazing too. Loyal, bad boy, straight-forward, careful, etc, so much adjectives to consider.

ENJOYMENT- brilliantly enjoyed start to the current chapter. I'm still eager to read more. Art is so cool, characters are similar to some characters from Reborn. Great to see different faces yet familiar personalities.
