tl;dr: A manga with solid humor and drama about a guy overcoming a toxic relationship thanks to a new one, though one that doesn't really go anywhere yet.

This manga is different from what I expected in terms of relationships, in that it felt like it was less focused on the relationship between Shousuke and Akane, and more on the relationship between Shousuke and Kanae. Now, to be clear, this relationship isn’t presented as a good thing, but rather the relationship Shousuke has with Kanae is a toxic one where she uses his fetish to psychologically and emotionally abuse him. The core of this story was him overcoming that, and it does that pretty well, though the finale for this aspect felt pretty abrupt and not developed enough, but still reasonably satisfying. He’s able to overcome the toxic relationship heavily due to Akane, and so there definitely is a blooming relationship there. However, the development here is quite slow, and even in the end, no progress is really made. The ending leaves it open such that things could progress in the future, but it doesn’t really show any major relationship development beyond some signs that it’s blooming in Akane and that Shousuke might be interested. To be honest, this was my biggest disappointment with this manga, in that for all that happened over the course of the manga it simply felt like it didn't go far enough as a payoff . In addition to that, the humor was solid, often being centered around how strange Shousuke is but not in a demeaning way, and the information about shoes was interesting, though I probably won’t remember it for long. The art was also really good, especially in terms of it’s focus.
