Scarlet is a Yuri manga that is quite entertaining, however I dropped it after the first volume for a reason that most people won't have a problem with, and I'll get into that later.

This manga includes its unique breed of vampires (called werewolves) and actual werewolves (called man-eating wolves) and follows two characters as they seek to eradicate the drug known as elixir to stop people from turning into werewolves. They discuss this in detail, and it's surprisingly interesting. There's a lot of mystery involved and I can see more of that being uncovered in later volumes. The art was outstanding, with dynamic movements and well thought out backgrounds. However, while there is some humor and a lot of fighting, there is still the Yuri aspect. To calm down Finé, Iris (the man-eating wolf) lets her drink some of her blood, and they do make it seem sexual- which is perfectly normal for vampires. In fact, I liked these scenes, because it wasn't so over the top that it took me away from the plot, but instead added another layer to their relationship. The reason I dropped this, however, is because in the second volume the mangaka turned up the Yuri romance to near maximum for an older teen book. I know that many people appreciate this, and I don't blame them at all! From what I heard there aren't many good Yuri stories like this so I hope this will help close that gap. It was just a shock from the implied romance in the first volume to them being in bed together (granted, it seemed like a body swapping situation from what I read, but my point still stands). I want to support the mangaka and the industry but it went in a direction I wasn't expecting. But honestly, if you want a beautifully drawn, awesome fantasy/Yuri story, you will definitely find something here. I recommend it, it's just a bit much for my personal tastes.
