Shinjuku DxD

You could 'call' this a reverse of Sherlock Holmes in a way. A Doctor and a Detective cure patients whilst solving crimes.
I say 'call' as it is less Sherlock Holmes and more House with more cheesecake.

Dr. Date is a local Shinjuku doctor always dealing with Yakuza, hookers, and the like, fixing their problems with a wry smile and a great left hook if troubles comes running. Enter Maria Daigo, a junior detective with a heart of gold and green horns looking to prove herself on the force. Their paths meet and the mangaka has to force them together as there really isn't a great reason for them to stay together.

The manga suffers greatly at the lack of character development these two get over the 5 volumes. Maria spends most of the time as eye candy or a protective gun to Date's wild deductions and expert medical skills. Maria should have been given a bigger role with deductions since she is the detective but is ultimately side lined by Date's superior observational skills and almost omnipotent fighting and knowledge over each case and story.
This is most evident in the last story arc where Maria is left completely out of the story showing that Date could easily carry the whole story through.

Despite these short comings I really liked the presentation and style of this manga. As a person in the medical field, I got giddy when Date started to explain medical terminology and causes of death in a fairly accurate way. Maria also looks very nice even finding her way into a sexy nurse outfit by the end of the series.

Sadly the series was cut short. Like incredibly short. The author doesn't leave on a cliff hanger but begins plant plot points in the final chapter knowing full well it was never going to continue afterwards which is frustrating to leave on.

I'd consider it a trashy manga for those that like the character designs (as I did), but the last few chapters especially the who done it murder case was executed extremely well.
