Strike Witches: Katayoku no Majo-tachi

Well, Strike Witches: One-Winged Witches sure is different from the other Strike Witches manga that I've read. It's not even just the fanservice, but the story too. So, I'll just dive into that now.

The story is quite simple. Another Witch squadron, Isle of Wight Detachment, is made up of five witches that all go through personal growth as they go through their daily lives either because they want to try and be as good of a witch as their idols are, they just needed some encouragement to to break out of their shell, etc. All in all, the reasons are not very complicated, but they are more than enough and help the squad become connected very well. Wilma shows at the start and is basically the driving force for the development of other characters almost right off the bat. She is the just type of person that is good at bringing everyone together, even though she is a bit eccentric at times and a slight pervert. If not for her, Misa, Laura, Francie, and Amelie would not have gone through all their personal growth and become connected as a squadron that actually cares about each instead of being kind of a disconnected group. The story is simple, but great. It shows that even "non ace" witches can still be really good at their jobs and work together for the greater good. Even one-winged witches, or witches that cannot bring out their full potential on their own, can make up a great squadron.

The art is drawn extremely well and even the bullet effects are really clear and I never felt felt confused at what I was seeing. There is also a wide range of character designs and most of the girls look really cute and Misa and Wilma are quite attractive.

The characters are really good. They all depend on each other by the end and work well together besides their short comings. Strike Witches isn't know for having complicated characters and development, but I also found the series to have really good-amazing character development for the amount of characters present and the short run of the show. This series definitely offers the type of character development expected from the series. It's easier to just read the manga to find out more character details as I would basically be their whole character out other wise and ruining the experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent reading it. It's definitely unique among the Strike Witches content I've read, and I recommend it to any Strike Witches fan, even though Amelie was a bit annoying at times.
