This thing is shit, don't read it.

It's just like every other high school battle light novel adaptation. Generic/bland/boring characters, a generic/bland/boring setting, and generic/bland/boring visuals.

The MC, Homura Kamashiro, is so generic that it hurts. He looks SO generic, that the only thing that he had to distinguish him from the background people what his scarf (it didn't even look interesting, it's just the fact that he had a scarf). His personality is incredibly rehashed; A new, edgy, too-cool-for-school transfer student who is so powerful that he cure super magician cancer. He says things that are supposed to make him sound like a cool hard ass, but also be super nice and freindly. You can literally find this guy in hundreds of different shows/comics.

The other characters are too boring to even mention, other than the fact that a girl with super magician cancer has her whole character arc summed up in a page in the first chapter.

The visuals in this manga are shit. Everyone is always in these static, boring poses that it becomes hilarious. The artist didn't even try to make it look interesting (even a poor artist would try if they really wanted to). These links are perfect example of how much effort the artist puts into their work.

In this one, even the background characters are doing the same pose.

Also, the backgrounds are boring.

I'm done talking about this. It's shit, read Jojo or something.

What happens when all you did was save humanity but was branded a traitor for that, had your powers sealed away, and was hated by everyone on the planet? What happens when you were just 12 years old when this happened to you?

Story-I got to say,the story was intriguing. With only 8 chapters and being an adaptation of the light novel, this one does an awesome job of getting you hooked and wanting more(thus taking you to the light novel). Our MC once saved the world but as thanks he was branded a traitor and ostracized. His only companion is now a little girl that is literally his "sword and shield".Then he gets a request to join a school by one of the few people on earth who still trusts him reluctantly he agrees to stay for one year. What happens from then on?Read and find out.
Art-The art was crisp and clear and for the most part good.It could have used a little more detail for the demons.
Character-Again with only 8 chapters it's kinda impossible to get any real character development done.I loved the MC.A lazy, thick skinned,self-proclaimed lady killer who's powers are mostly sealed away by the world government*cough*yeah right*cough*.
Enjoyment-I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this manga.Sure it was rushed and didn't explain much, since it was basically an ad for the light novel but the humor was definitely there. The MC is a total OP bad ass when he wants to be.Someone who is both feared and admired and is called as the Fiend Summoner. His blunt companion Bell(who's a magical artifact that can take many forms but mostly appears as a little girl) constantly criticizes both him(for his kindness) and the government for running to him for help when it suits them and throwing him away later is a comic relief.
Overall-I would say read this manga if you got some time to spare. You will like it but it will be over before you can get committed to it.

First of all -the plot: The world was threatened by the demon king typhon. On the edge of annhilation of the human kind the world was saved by the fiend summoner Homura who was branded as traitor afterwards because of his ability (as the name implies) to summon demons. The world unification administration was founded to fight the remaining demons. Five years later Homura returns to his homeland japan and is asked to join the new tokyo magic academy and to observe and support the students in their fight against the demons.
What can be said to this manga- well it belongs to the harem/ecchi genre. The plot is quite stereotype- nothing you haven’t read before so don’t expect to be overtaken by it. The manga lives from the numerous attractive girls and from „mister cool“–the main character Homura. Homura is not only totally cool but also totally overpowered which leads to rather short and boring fights. To reinforce further clichés the mighty Homura is quiet lonely- how sad or put it another way: *yawn*. Needless to say that everybody falls more or less in love with him- well as I mentioned its harem. Most of the characters aren’t really interesting but rather superficial -ok, there are just 8 chapters and it’s quite hard to build up a complex character in such a short time but some one shots have greater character development as this manga. I haven’t read the light novel so I can’t comment on the further development.
But this manga is easy to read especially because there is no need to think about a possible hidden meaning of the things said or done.
If you have too much time to spare and you like ecchi- feel free to read "ultimate antihero"

tl;dr: A number of interesting concepts that aren’t given enough time to use and develop effectively.

This light novel series had a lot of good base concepts. I liked the general premise of Angels and Demons coming from different worlds, with old heroes and myths being the power that truly belongs to Earth, with the Old Gods, especially the Lovecraftian ones, being the most powerful. I also liked how that played into a pretty interesting combat system, with different types of abilities as well as special skills unique to characters. I also liked the specific premise of a guy being magnitudes more powerful than the rest of humanity and being isolated due to that, but persevering for the sake of humanity anyway, and the effect that has on the special relationships that are developed that are the exception to that. Ultimately though, I don’t think the narrative made very good use of those, which I very much suspect is due to the story getting cut off way too early. It feels like the series enters its finale just as it begins, with the third book of four. As a result, it feels like what was meant to be a much larger plot that used these concepts more effectively never came to be. This is bad in terms of the overarching plot, in that it feels like it didn’t do enough and the story isn’t really over yet, but is especially bad in terms of character development and relationships, wherein it feels like they got off to a good start, there isn’t any time for them to go anywhere so in the end they’re pretty much exactly where they were at the start. Hence, the ending wasn’t all that satisfying.

The character designs were good and the art was solid. In terms of writing quality, I can’t speak for the original, but as for the fan translation that’s floating around, while it is understandable mostly, more sentences than not are plagued by improper grammar, strange sentence structure, and awkward word choice. So while it’s better than nothing, it’s not very good.

Short Version: It's truly an average LN for one in this genre. There's nothing really that stands out and deserves merit, but it is certainly not as bad as it could be. I've read worse. If you are considering whether to read this, ask yourself if you have read any LN similar to the synopsis. If so, this is really not worth reading. If not, use it as an introduction to the genre, then go watch some other anime like this.

Note: I have a feeling this was cut short early by the publishers, because halfway through the 4 volumes, I had a feeling the world and plot was a lot bigger than what was delivered in the last two volumes of the LN. Keep this in mind. It could have been better.

And now for the review.

I'll start with the art, since this is the least important part of a LN. I thought it was decent, with some good character designs and some nice costumes. Like most LN art, the characters seem to have a very rounded design, which I am not too fond of. Nothing that will turn you away though. It doesn't take getting used to like the designs in One Piece. I gave it a 7.

Now, we move on to the plot. Honestly, I found it terribly weak. It might be because I have read a lot of LNs like this though, since I did enjoy it and finished it in one sitting. It's short, with just 4 volumes. I disliked the immense number of deus ex machinae in every volume. This is to be expected with a character who is introduced as being more or less invincible. All of the motivations of the characters seem forced, like it is included in the plot only because it is the standard in such LNs. Characters fall in love and have crushes or get angry very predictably. It is easy to guess where the plot will go. Thus, at many points, you see major plot components go unexplained by the author, with the reader still understanding why the event has occurred, although by drawing their knowledge of other, better LNs. Also, as I have mentioned, it had a rushed ending. I gave it a 3.

Characters are also poorly created in this LN. The MC is not a very interesting character. His personality is quite like a Gary Stu in that he is immensely powerful and et acts very humble and kind, supposedly inducing the kind of heartthrobs among adolescent girls that make them go weak in the knees. He barely faces any reason to mature as a character. The great tragedy of his past did not seem as traumatic to me as the author evidently thought it ought to be. The female characters are also quite the same, showing growth spurts in power that can only be described as deus ex machinae and showing no development as a character at all. The only character I liked was the fairy queen Elfiena. The members of the World Government were abhorrent and made me wonder why exactly they were even made the leaders of their countries. I also quite liked Michael, the effect he has on other people being interesting to read. Overall, I gave it another 3.

On the whole, I did enjoy the LN. I did read it in one go. However, it is not very memorable and I probably will never bother reading it again. Skipping this one would not be a tragedy.

So try it if you have the time. It's certainly not a nauseating experience, but if you are looking for a quality read, or a gem among the coal or something that makes you change your perspective n the world, or something entirely immersive and cathartic, this is not the option for you.
