YURURIZUMU

Yururizumu is about a young man named Suzuhara Hibiki who has a love for onsens or hot springs. He would travel around and record the numerous onsens he has been to. Until one day he says a spells that awakens the “Onsen Guardian” whom is a young and beautiful girl named Mahiru. Somehow, she can’t get back to the “World of Onsen” and now she is stuck in the human world. So she decides to stick on with Suzuhara.

Story: 5/10
The series is surprisingly short. The idea of having these spirits like beings that resides in onsens is a decent idea. It had potential to go much further but it didn’t. The story is somewhat of a comedy as each chapter shows the daily life of Suzuhara with Mahiru. Mahiru is totally clueless of the human world, and because of this sometimes cause trouble. The first half of the series gave the impression that it would be longer, but the last chapter just rushed everything and ended the series with a huge lack of plot development. Overall it had a somewhat ok story, it would have been much better if it was longer.

Art: 5/10
The artwork is nothing special. The main characters were pretty detailed and came out pretty good. Since this was a really short series, there were really little background characters as the story focused on the main characters.

Character: 4/10
The biggest flaw of this manga is probably the lack of character diversity. The characters are limited to basically 4 characters. With very little supporting characters and a very short story, it is hard to have a good plot and character development. Suzuhara Hibiki is the typical male protagonist that gets stuck in a harem. He is clueless to all the girls’ feelings, but is still the nice guy. Mahiru is your generic clueless klutz that tries to make everybody happy, but sometimes cause more problems than solve them. While Fujishiro Yukari is the tsundere class president that obviously likes Suzuhara. Even with those 3 in every chapter, there is still a great lack of character development and makes it hard for the reader to become attached or feel much emotion for the characters.

Enjoyment: 5/10
Yururizumu is an ok manga series. There were a few laughs in it, but it was just disappointing in the lack of character development. The artwork was fine, and wasn’t that special, so it made the series less spectacular and a tad bit more boring.

Yururizumu overall is an average manga series. The story seemed like it had potential to go much farther than the 6 chapters, but sadly it didn’t. There is almost no character development or plot development. There are still some laughs to it, but beside that there aren’t any other noticeable points to point out. So if you’re looking for a really light and short read for a few laughs, Yururizumu should be alright for you. But if you’re looking for something a bit more serious and interesting, I suggest skipping this manga.
