One Piece review
One Piece is by far the most successful of the Original big three of shonen Jump, It's become one of the most influential comic series in the world. It stands among Industry legends like Hirohiko Araki and Fujio Fujiko. While One piece doesn't have the flawless art of Tite Kubo or the Fantastic concept of Naruto it makes up for what It misses with unlimited pizazz and energy elevating it above it's contenders.

Q: Should you Read One Piece?

A: One piece is a series that takes a lot of commitment with an overwhelming amount of chapters, (over 950) While the exceedingly extreme length of the Manga may seem daunting, the more and more you read of one piece and the more you enjoy it the easier it is to read, And soon enough it becomes part of your daily routine to pick up a chapter and read it each week. Overtime long running shonen series such as one piece become a familiar backdrop in everyday life and while the length may prevent you from initially getting into the series soon it will become an everyday thing.

[Story 8/10]
"Wealth, Fame, Power" The pirate King Gol D. Roger gained all the wealth that there was in the world, on the Day of his execution he echoed the words "My Treasure if you want it you can have it I left it all I that one place" and his final words lead to a revolution, the great Pirate Era, Countless dreamers seek to find the legendary "One Piece" in order to be the next pirate king. one such Dreamer is Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy from the East Blue who ate the Gomu Gomu No Mi, a mysterious fruit named "Devil Fruit" which gives you a power in exchange for the ability to swim. The young boy set out on his journey across the great grand blue making countless friends, enemies and allies along the way.

One Piece is a series built to withstand the test of time, with a plot that could take forever to resolve does the story serve it's job well enough to make up for the almost impossible goals it sets for our character? Yes. Each new arc introduce's us to a whole new world, each island has its own culture, politics and ceremonies. this adds a lot of depth to a location. Think of it Like Morioh from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is unbreakable. Morioh is like a character in and of itself just like how each island of one piece is like it's own independent personality. While in the end we know the Straw hat pirates are gonna come on top the stakes still are high enough to question our heroes safety.

Overall the story of one piece is great, it has fantastic world building and the themes will very obvious are executed well.

[Art 10/10]
One piece's artwork accentuates Oda's fantastic worlds that he creates, each island has a a great design and are all aesthetically beautiful, One such example is Thriller Bark and Fishman Island with small little details that add so much to the world. The character designs are iconic and easily distinguishable, I could recognise almost every character from the series purely from their silhouette alone. There's a great sense of energy that flows between each panel of one piece and the way that Oda structures his panels are just phenomenal, they just flow so well together.
Art is absolutely brilliant.

[Characters 8/10]
Every character in one piece has a clear and defined personality easily separating them from each other, Luffy is Lazy, Stupid and Incredibly strong. Zoro is Badass, stern and a great leader, Nami is smart, greedy and has a love for those close to her. Each character has very easily distinguishable traits that make them easy to recognise. And overall there all just a hell of a lot of fun read on with together, There all a A jolly bunch and its impossible for me to hate anyone on the straw hat crew. the villains are Sometimes cartoonishly evil like Heath Ledgers Joker or Dio Brando and some other villains are Deep and Well thought out like Yoshikage Kira or Askellad. Villains like Buggy the clown while fun to read are plain comic relief and don't add much depth to the world, On the other hand characters like Mihawk, Akainu and Dolflamingo have layers upon layers of character each with a different motivation and backstory and all serving there role and antagonistic forces in the story. Side characters are never just one time characters, Great side characters like Trafalgar law and Jinbe are always nice to see again, and even if they aren't shown again they can be mentioned again through other people later on in the story.

[Enjoyment + Overall 9/10]
One piece is gripping and fun and always has a lot of flare and energy that just pulls me into each new chapter of the series. With some great art and fantastic energy, alongside awesome characters one piece is one of the defining manga series of the century and will continue to be one of the best manga ever until it's eventual end.

The Horizon review
This story truly embodies the tantalizing journey that life presents us. The meaningless void it can throw us in, leaving us with never ending scars. However there is also beauty in it all. When we view the world with others the darkness of the past gets blurred leaving only happiness.

"The Horizon" follows a boy after viewing his mother die. This destroys the boy turning him into a nihilists devoid of any reason to live. Until he meets a girl. The two travel down a long road moving forward no matter the adversities in their path. Creating a bond that can never be broken.

The Horizon blends the line between what is right and wrong. It poses morale questions that truly have no answer and puts our characters in the middle of it. These decisions degrade them and make them loose semblance of what their life means. However they are able to overcome the dark feelings surrounding when they enjoy life's small pleasantries together. Simple beauty can overcome the strongest disparities, showing us the humanity in everything and everyone.

Death is a prevalent theme in "The Horizon". Many characters wish to die to end the suffering plaguing them and will give up living if it means to end the insufferable loneliness and pain. We learn however that when we find someone we care about, we find new meaning in protecting them. We see characters relearn humanity through each other. Demonstrating the artists belief that human connection can conquer fear and pain. When we find others who bring forth joy we discover that life is not meaningless, and death can not erase the connections we have made.

I have never experienced a apocalyptic story that focused so little on the actual events of the disaster, instead showing how the characters interact within it. This leads to a compelling tale of the human psyche. Displaying the ideas of nihilists and how they interpret the world around them. Love is what makes the world grounded and round, it leads us down a never ending path. This path even with no clear direction is enjoyable since it can be walked with others who feel the same things we do. This is the beauty of the world and the reason we strive to live.

"The Horizon" is a masterpiece that showed me the importance of relationships.

I hope it will do the same for you.

Code Geass: Hankou no Suzaku review
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this manga series up. I intended to finish up the entire series since it was only 2 volumes long, but after the 1st volume, I found it so awful that I see no way of the second volume being able to redeem this retelling of one of my favorite series.

First of all, if this is a retelling of Code Geass as seen through Suzaku’s eyes, then it’s appalling at how many inaccuracies there are. There are no Knightmare Frames. None. Zilch. Zero. Suzaku’s prototype Lancelot suit is just a suit he wears into battle and looks like someone’s Gundam cosplay you would find at a con. The Black Knights, instead of commandeering a fleet of Knightmare Frames, are just ordinary drug traffickers. Thus, there are no mech-to-mech battles, as Britannia isn’t shown to possess Knightmare Frames either, so battles instead center around hand-to-hand combat. Other inaccuracies abound: Here, Prince Clovis’s murder is simplified to the point of blandness, Suzaku’s subsequent trial and public execution from the anime are completely distorted, as well as Zero’s kidnapping of Suzaku afterwards. But perhaps the biggest insult to the series is the true intention of Suzaku’s father. As a result of this distortion, the entire basis of Suzaku’s philosophy and intentions in the anime are completely destroyed, and Suzaku’s development as a character is further hampered by the fact that Lelouch never used his Geass on him in the manga!

One of the things I loved about Code Geass the anime is the relationships amongst the characters. Here, there is none of the strategic, chess-like grittiness that goes on between the Black Knights and the Britannian Empire, and you don’t feel much of Suzaku’s internal conflict with himself at all, because of the destruction of his character basis. His philosophy is highlighted during his first encounter with Lelouch as a soldier, after his rescue during the trial, and when he first put on the Lancelot suit. However, it is so weakly portrayed here that the fact the manga prides itself on being a “Code Geass told through Suzaku’s eyes” series makes it even more insulting. Suzaku’s relationships with other characters, to say the least, is horridly done. Much of the time it’s a distorted version of his internal conflict, but his relationship with Lelouch, deeply portrayed in the anime, feels distant and cold here. It feels like their relationship is held together by used Post-it Notes and Scotch Tape rather than something that was developed over years of hardship and understanding. Arthur doesn’t come up to bite Suzaku’s finger, and Nunnally is portrayed as “my best friend’s little sister” rather than a member of the royal family.

Many characters were shoehorned in for a few scenes and lack much of their distinct personalities, such as Kallen, CC, Prince Schneizel, and most of all, Jeremiah, who here is portrayed as an out-of-character generic soldier. If you just read this manga and skipped the anime, the name Orange-kun wouldn’t mean a thing. Many characters are cut out from the anime, such as Princess Cornelia, King Charles, Villetta, Nina, Rivalz, Milly, and all the Black Knights except for Kallen.

But… the absolute, most unforgivable character they cut out would have to be Princess Euphemia, who is replaced with a shallowly developed character named Mariel. For a manga centered around Suzaku, this is perhaps the epitome of idiocy this manga has to offer. Euphemia is the catalyst of Suzaku’s actions from a third of the way into R1 all the way until at least halfway into R2. She sets things into action towards the end of R1, and if she were cut, there is no chance of telling the Code Geass series accurately.

The premise of this manga is an interesting concept. The conflict of ideals shown between Lelouch and Suzaku are a major theme of the anime series. It goes beyond good vs evil and transcends into what’s morally right and morally wrong, and why they all act the way they do. The anime is told from a Lelouch-centric perspective, and oftentimes Suzaku is portrayed in a negative, naïve light. But the basis for Suzaku’s actions is strong, and it would have been wonderful to see an interpretation of Code Geass from his point-of-view. But this manga’s billing of itself as Code Geass told from Suzaku’s perspective is an insult to the Code Geass name. It’s even an insult to the character it tries to focus on. For the proper Code Geass experience, I do command you to watch the anime series- both R1 and R2- and avoid this manga series like the plague.
