Okay, so I disliked this story so much it prompted me to write my first ever review on this website. I truly do not understand how people could have given this series such fantastic reviews. While it's true that I was only able to get through 5 chapters, it just goes to show how bad this story was.

I'd first picked up this manga because I'd heard such fabulous reviews, and I was looking forward to it since I've been binge readings historical themed mangas recently, and this was next on my list. But my god, I could not get through it.

First, the story is horribly predictable. I can almost already guess what the ending will be, and frankly, I'm not willing to read the 90+ chapters it'll take to get there. The almost-rape that was seen in the first chapter nearly had me permanently lodging my eyeballs to the back of my sockets, and the rest of the few chapters weren't that great either.

Second, the characters were terribly bland and their actions were also highly predictable. I could not get over the vast amount of predictable character tropes in a drama series' like this, and the fact that they had no uniqueness to any of them. I could probably predict what a few of the characters introduced in the first 5 chapters would do throughout the rest of the story, but I don't feel like reading the rest of the story to see if I'm right.

Perhaps you're saying, "maybe if you read more than FIVE chapters you'd feel differently", but honestly, no I don't think so. Unless there is some huge revamping of the character's personalities and the overall story in the coming chapters, I don't think I'll come to like this manga very much. So, I'm sorry if this is your all-time favorite story in the entire world, but I just can't do it. Maybe if I had come across this story back in my early years of reading manga (which was when I was 12 maybe?), I would have felt a lot differently about this story.

Anyway, I'd like to end this on a positive note, so I will say the I enjoyed the art very much (I'm a sucker for the late 90's early 00's style), so at least this manga has that going for it.

Maybe my next review will be a positive one (but likely not as I don't ever have much motivation to write reviews, oops). I'll try, though. Maybe.
