Kyou no Cerberus review

As this is my first review on this site, please go easy on me. I'll also try to be as spoiler-free as possible.

To be frank, I've quite enjoyed it. The setting was nice, yet could have been better. I'll boil it down later on. The characters, especially the girls, were cute, especially the Cerberus trio.

Story - 8

The ending COULD HAVE been better if it weren't for the major plotholes in the last chapter. Literally the only thing I liked there were the confessions, but I'm sad how the protagonist just outright put them down with a simple apologetic phrase. Then just that. Kuro suddenly transforms into a human with no concrete explanation given how and why after 2 weeks of her disappearance. lol how could she have survived in that dimension I wonder. Anyhow, the rest of the story was good enough for me.

Art - 8

At most parts, the art gets good. There are times that perhaps some may have not even noticed, or have probably just overlooked it, that it gets all wobbly. Not that it matters at this point as it's already a finished piece of work. Though, I gotta admit the action scenes were decent enough at its own way of being presented. It's real easy to follow.

Characters - 7

The characters, eh, not so good. All the credit however goes to the Cerberus trio. The others were just a nuisance. Haruna might be an exception, also Idora. Anyhow, back with what I was talking about. First off, Kuro. She was introduced to be the Cerberus sent by the protagonist's father from Greece, which I needed an explanation on how he's even gotten his hands on such a creature. And of course, she has to be the airheaded type. Despite her cuteness, her idiocy may not make up for what she had been doing until she was shown to possess a dark power. The reason being the emotions created by the first cerberus, Roze. I'll get to her later. Shirogane, is the tsundere type. She LITERALLY was the only character in the series I've seen develop so much after she had realized her true feelings for Chiaki. She kept on denying that, as she's a tsundere after all. She's the only tolerable tsundere I've encountered so far. Although there were some points where she has to excuse her emotions over something like her existence serving the purpose of Roze's feelings, as Roze created them for the sake of her well-being. That part of her kinda ticked me off a little bit, but she fills that in with touches of her cuteness. Lastly, Roze. As I've stated in my previous sentences, she was responsible of creating Kuro and Shirogane as means of emotionally balancing her. As stated in some parts of the manga, she is known to be very shy and is not good with people, but further on she has managed to develop herself simultaneously closing the gaps between her relationship with Chiaki. The thing about her past that was shown in a certain arc of the manga (where they ventured the depths of the underworld) was quite unnecessary, for in my opinion her reason of creating the two heads as she's claimed to be the "original cerberus" was only there to support her weaknesses. I'm not going to go into detail with Komone, as her only role there is to be that one girl in class who can't fulfill her love for a guy she strangely developed feelings for despite her failures. Glad she managed to cope up with herself till the end, honestly. Minnie deserved to be thrown in the trash. Her mere presence was completely insignificant, as she just cockblocks Chiaki in his good moments with the other girls.

Enjoyment - 9

Yes, I've enjoyed it to my heart's content. Regardless of what I said about the characters, the overall read was a ride. Not the best series out there, however. Would've been better if the author timed the events right. The last chapter felt rushed too, but whatever. It's already done.

Overall - 8

It was a fun read. I wish I can say more about the last chapter but I would just be spoiling how the story would end. Nevertheless, I loved the characters at most. There were just certain points I can't even comprehend, like how a powerless run-of-the-mill protagonist was even capable of surviving throughout the whole ordeal just to experience fun and smile. Let's be real though, he got some development despite all of that.

(sorry if I haven't made anything clear in case you don't get my standpoint)

That's all I have to offer. Thanks for reading my review. It was a pleasure.
